Hey guys how hope someone can bring some light on this matter for me. I get about 210 pages a day however my bounce rate is still up 80%. Any idea how I can decrease the bounce rate for my site?
Also I have about 300 impressions for from google and I get about 1 click. Any idea?

Your best bet here maybe to put your site up in the review part of the forum mate, that way you can ask people in there once they have looked over your site to give some feedback on how you could improve your bounce rates.
Without looking at a site like in the review section no one could possible help as we dont know if its your design, layout, colours, text colour, font size, product prices, ranking for the wrong keywords, not targeted traffic and so many more.

Clan Hosting, dedicated servers and much more!
Web Design, Netfox CMS, SEO and much more!
well the site itself looks alright (never know - thought it might be a disaster which would have been the most obvious problem)
How are people coming to your site? If it's PPC or the SE's what keywords are producing most of your traffic?

They are coming through facebook from link posted on our facebook page. And another thing I don't know if this is the right place to ask that too but from my site I can see the stats saying that I am getting about 400 visitors a day and google only taking about 150 out of the 400. I get a bunch of keywords referral and search and google don't see most of them any idea?
hard to say without looking at what you're posting to facebook - obviously people are going to the site for one reason (not sure why) and not what they see isn't what they want
you have to determine WHY people are clicking to your site in the first place and then see if what you are displaying measures up to their expectations
you have to know 1) what your traffic sources are and 2) what is being displayed there (keywords for SE's), ads, posts, etc) which are producing the traffic before I (and probably others) can be much help

I have been capturing social media statistics for years now and high abandonment (bounce) percentages are par for the course with SM.
Have not seen your FB but you could possibly work on user engagements at that level which may improve your onsite statistics. But you should aim have a diversified list of referring sites, 100’s to thousands of them. And then how are your search engine referrals, those numbers usually dominate the referrers.
Thank you all for you replies.
High bounce rate will have different meanings depending on the site and how you're driving them.
I also get high bounce rates from social media to my blog, but I assume that's because they read the post and move on. They probably aren't surfing my blog. I can tell from my time on site that they're typically reading the post.
If you're bouncing 80% of visits from PPC to a shopping website, I'd be very concerned with that kind of bounce rate. At my last job, they were running at about a 45% bounce rate with PPC. I re-wrote the campaigns and refined the phrases we were buying, and dropped out bounce rate to just over 30%. Improved our CTR. And improved our conversions.

Thanks Lelo, I had high bounce rate for my blog at 89%. Someone suggested that I placed it in the review my site section and I did. I got many great advices which I applied. Although it hasn't gone down drastically, I am seeing the mid to lower 70 bounce rate. I will keep monitoring it.
But one thing I can see and tell that I am lacking are back link. I guess I would like if someone can point me in the right direction. I need backlinks and I don't think I have any. Which I think will not really help me much.

One important aspect for ad clickthroughs is to make sure the landing page reflects the wording of the ad.
So if the ad asks the quest "Is your marriage on the rocks? - find out here"
Than you need to land on a page that is addressing that EXACTLY. People are not going to hunt through a page with lots on it just to find the link to a page on marriage.

Just a suggestion: Why don't you re-design the site. I'm not saying that your site's current design is bad but since there are stories here, why don't you put up some images in every story. For example, try visiting yahoo.com. There are different news right? And every news has it's own image. Why don't you copy it's concept? Setting some images to attract your visitors.

Thanks Lailascott, i am actually considering that. I have been gathering a lot of information from all of you guys. Actually I had something like that but apparently it was making the site extra slow.
Last edited by johnykit (2010-02-19 13:34:30)your site has take much time to load.
In your site has included many JavaScript or css files. So it takes too much time to load.
below JavaScript file are used in your site:
main.js, jquery.js?ver=1.3.2, jquery.form.js?ver=2.02m, mailchimp.js?ver=2.9.2, tw-sack.js?ver=1.6.1, prototype.js, scriptaculous.js, jquery-1.2.6.min.js etc
but not need to be used many javascripts .
prototype and scriptaculous same as jquery and also load two jquery.js for different version.
Only those JavaScript are load which is need to be current page it is better for increase loading speed.
Thank you MHK... I will look into fixing that... I am currently designing my own theme which is about 75% done. One I use my own I think it will remove all the javascrip added by the theme I am using. Again thank you to all of you guys for helping out. Once I am done with the new theme I will ask you guys for your opinoin....
If possible then check it your design to be standard as w3schools.
Means check it all HTML tag link table, lists, forms, div images, hyperlinks all are used in proper way or not all tag are completed or not. It’s helpful to SEO and getting the rank.
And only those java scripts are delete which is not necessary and also look at only those JavaScript and CSS file is included which is needed to current page it is important to fast loading site.
Ex. Form.js is not need to be home page but it’s important to category page then form.js include only category page instead of all page.
