From the news this morning IE is hackers preference
I wonder if IE is also a bigger target due to the fact that more people use it?

From what I understand from technical guys that know a lot more than me it is indeed a combination of the two: It's somewhat easier to hack than other browsers but the fact that it's the most common browser is definitely an important factor.

Hehe! I don't think he was complaining. He doesn't even use it because he doesn't like it.
As I read the comment, this just adds to the dislike. Oh, our friend has a strong prejudiced against Bill Gates!

To me the article lost credibility when I read:
EXCERPT FROM MICROSOFT BLOG (voiceover): We recommend users of IE6 on Windows XP upgrade to a new version of Internet Explorer and/or enable DEP (data execution protection). We also recommend users of Windows XP upgrade to newer versions of Windows.
IE8 is out there and all they could get hold of to prove their point was an IE 6 quote. It is more of sensational journalism to me.

lol no I try my best not to use IE as I cant stand it, its alway been a big mess if you ask me, lots of bugs, missing parts (that FF has and should be in every browser), security problems (left, right and center), and I just cant stand it after using FF, but thats just my views of IE.
I do have IE installed both at work and home but thats only for web site testing as we need to test on all main browsers. I still use IE7 as I think IE was a down grade not upgrade, I mean look at how much they removed from IE7 as well as what was added to IE8 and you will see my point
As for Bill Gates, Well... lol na only joking, its the jokers that run it all now thats messing it all up!
And those on IE6 should be forced to update to atleast IE7, because IE6 is the worst browser out due to so many things not just the major low security. Which is because its out of date, and yes back in the times of old browsers it was good, but like all things, it must come to its end now!

It seems to me that an advantage to hacking IE6 would be that users that don't upgrade their version of IE are less likely to use autoupdate for their copy of Windows, and Microsoft is less persistent in fixing IE6. So in other words they're after the slower moving targets.
I don't know about you guys, but IE seems too slow

I agreed.
I also do not use IE because it is slow takes time to load as compared to to other browser what i use. but i use IE8 sometimes if required.
IE is the most targeted web browser today as it has been popular since a decade now & the hackers know the in & outs of it. It is betters to use Mozilla Firefox instead of IE.
Please use your sig for personal links and see the forum rules! Thank you!
When you have firefox and chrome... i still don't get it y people still use IE6 or IE20 who cares..?
I like IE but I prefer to use FireFox, because it's faster.

Am I reading this right? You like IE? What's in IE do you like most?
Last edited by lailascott (2010-02-17 10:05:26)Everything invented has it good and bad side, IE have served well. so i think people should try to give honor to who it is due, if you are experiencing any kind of problem switch or send in your complain and waite for adjustments. After all nothing or any one is perfect.

FF is perfect
and IE has always sucked with its bugs and missing/dropping some of the bits people really like. For example IE8 has now dropped the option to open all your tabs when you close and re-open IE. that for me was the bigest reason not to upgrade from IE7 to IE8.
FF on the other hand only add bits to their updates, not remove the best parts because they know what their customers want and need from them!

Hi everybody. Actually I loved IE once, when there was no FF, Chrome and other things. Most of the time I used IE for browsing. But after that I found that it make problem sometimes. And there are so many bowers came out which are performing better than IE. Then I started to use other than IE. Now these days there are many news about IE that it has lacking of security. So hackers are mainly interested about IE because normally most of the people use it as a default browser of windows.
