Hi,
I have just done my monthly SEPR report for a client and his sepr for most keywords have dropped a large amount or gone 100+ in some cases.
Anyone know why this could be?
All we did lest week as add more news and more text to buyers guides etc and signup for a directory submission service (free human pr3+ directorys only).
So I can not see why this has happened any help here guys please?
Thanks in advance.

My initial thought is has the site owner implemented and followed a SEO plan, developing a decent link profile, content creation etc. But I don’t think anyone can really answer your question without some detailed analysis and that would require knowing details such as the domain + age, targeted keywords/phrases, link analysis, how long the site has been experiencing a “drop” etc. It could just be that the competition in their space is doing a better job.

As Charles suggested... it is not an easy task to sort out such problems. I often am contracted by other SEOs to do just that. There is a TON of information (existing and historical) that we collect to do analysis in such situations.
One thing I can say is that we NEVER use directory sub services cause they generally don't 'get it' and aren't worth it... more on that here; http://seo.site-reference.com/how-to-ge … rectories/
Anyway, we can't really tell what 'may' have happened... it's rarely that cut-and-dry

yes I have been doing the seo work and its been fine its just this last week the site's' have gone off the serp and many others have been reporting this on google webmaster forums.
I just cant see anything we have done this week that could have caused this to happen. The directory submission service has only been done on one domain to test it to check it has no bad directories and they are all good with high reps etc.
I can post some image of the keyword report if you would like so can see just how bad it is. The other thing is do site:www.splashandrelax.co.uk at top link: all there so not google penalty right?
Thanks for fast replays

There are loads of reasons why you could see this, for example:
There is the everflux - google is contantly updating
There are multiple data centres, each serving results differently
There is also personalised search, so G looks at what you search for and what you click on and tailors the results to fit

I always logout G when search so I dont get the personal search.
Whats this everflux? do you have a link so I can read up on it? and if it is indeed the everflux how long will it last and why done G tell us when its going to happen??
Thanks for the tips

Everflux is just a term that was invented when Google changed SERPS from a regular update to the index at certain time intervals(a week, month) to a more real time indexing.
So the serps can now change from one search to another minutes later.
Oh yeah, it does make SE analysis a bit more complicated.
If you have a browser like IE or Opera etc. that you use for testing only installed clear the cookies and set to refuse all cookies and search Google from that browser.
Not entirely effective, but it does remove the Google cookie and it's IP variants from corrupting an otherwise realistic report.
Hope this helps.

I have IE and FF on work pc so if I clear my cookies in IE it should show me the right serp then? is that what you are saying?
And the everflux is just where search is going to more then my one normal google data centre is that what you mean?

Best is to use proxies ( please don't ask where to obtain, really, it's becoming more of a personal wealth nowadays
) to see results that are not influenced by your personal location/cache/datacenter etc.
After checking neutrally like that you can continue debugging the real problem, it gives a lot of insight.
TOR works also well, if finding a normal proxy is hard.

Ok, for starters... if you're checking rankings via actual SERPs (not a tool) then I'd grab the Google Global for FireFox
http://www.redflymarketing.com/blog/goo … locations/
This hits a steady IP and removes all personalization - different locations can often be problematic... that's a good tool for that.
Now,the ranking flux sounds interesting and it could be a simple as some data centers being shuffled...or could be more.
Indexation; have you been tracking indexation? It is always important to have historical indexation for most sites and campaigns, this is something to do. I'd be curious to know the historical indexation levels/ratios
Link Velocity/Decay - we'd also want to know the link aquisition rates and aging... all links are not created equal and many links will lose value over time. This is also something to be tracking.
Ranking history - same once more - ranking and traffic levels over the last 6 months. This would be another piece to the puzzle. How long did you have the rankings? Sometimes that increased ranking is the blip and sites return to original historical placements (often due to QDF type issues).
Now, one thing also we can consider are algorithmic changes at G (seen a lot of them this year already) and the fact it may be some anomalies which will work themselves out in the end. How long now? 2 weeks or so?
Have you done due-diligence in checking that the site hasn't been compromised?
As you can see there can be an easy explanation, or often times more complex ones that take some data and analysis. We're still kinda throwing darts at this point.

ok well im really not sure whats going on but we are back to normal serp now on google.co.uk but google.com still 100+ etc so I guess as .co.uk we have not got anything wrong with the site or both would be the same correct?
Thanks for theff add-on Gypsy thats kl saves me changing the tld all time lol
Couple of things im not sure I understand from you post:
1) have you been tracking indexation? do you mean do we have G position reports?
2) due-diligence in checking. Whats that mean?
I have only been doing seo from xmas so dont know all tech name etc yet lol
Thanks for all the help guys

I did experienced it too! From 2nd page of the serp dropped down to below 200+. It alarmed me so I concentrated more on building links. I disregard the quantity and give more attention of finding quality sites that I can place my links. It worked after 3 weeks and right now, it's going good and already. For now, at least i can see improvement because I landed on top 50 already. I do believe that if worked harder, there's no way I can't make it on the first page.

After you have good rankings on SERP, did you continue building links? If not, you have to continue what you are doing to get into top rankings.. Best if you engage on other strategies as well to get more back links.
