Wonder why Google would bother asking us to fill in our own profiles?

With all the info they store on us, you'd think they know us better than we know ourselves

Well the profiles have been available for a while now. Sure Google tells you that the profiles are now included in the search results and searching for your name. But I don’t think that’s the real reason.

My guess is that they are feeling a bit left out of the social media circles, why with FB this, and Twitter that, plastered all over the place and not much light on Google in the Social circles.

Also read the fine print on the custom url, once you create it you cant change or delete it.

I would not start giving out too much info - I never put a real date of birth anywhere - on some of these places they ask enough info to account for over half needed for identity theft (like mothers maiden name etc)

Same here... I don't give out my full, accurate information ever.  Why give a hacker or thief the blueprint to my identity?

that's right guys! nowadays, it's hard to trust to somebody especially to those who you never know. crimes can also be done in the Internet that's why world wide web is not a safe place also for every one of us. i don't think i will give my full information of me here, in the Internet.

i used to fill all the crap abt me when i create a profile >< when i think abt it i feel like "wow how dum am i?" lolz
yeah from a while on i just use a short name or a nick name instead of real info.unique email accounts so on.
