I shared this thought on other forums and now with you guys as well.
You want to see your backlinks for your own blog/forum or website. Yahoo is showing good number of backlinks to your website and put smile on your face but when you checked Google you saw one tenth or less than that of Yahoo.
What is the reason ?
Matt Cutts explain it very well and I think there is some genuine reason behind this as well.
He stated that if they will show all backlinks than your competitor or other people will start link building with those websites. Assuming that you got the natural backlinks from there and your competitor can start spamming that websites.
This is very valid reason ... I wish Yahoo should understand this as well.
If this is the reason than they are getting full marks from me. Some how I do feel that this one is the genuine reason and this one makes Google task easier as they have to face less spammers if they able to hide such backlinks from them (however this does not make any sense for sharp spammers)
Maybe you can use google webmaster, then you can see which site has links to you.

yer it is a good smart reason and we should really thank google for it
As for finding out your backlinks there are many free and paid programes on the net to do this so we can still see all our sites back links with easy if you ask me.
I think Yahoo should take this into account and do the same as google has done as im sure most will agree.

I don't think yahoo will ever be able to do what Google does. I think most of google business comes because of their name. It is catchy and easy to remember. I don't think there is anyway that yahoo would be able to catch up now. Unless Google went down.

If Google aren't showing all the backlinks just to disuade spammers, why the hell do they show any at all?
Personally I think they dont show them all because they cant, not because they dont want to.
Just because they're Google, doesn't mean they have figured everything out.

what do you mean they cant show them all? surely if they can show some they have to power/programe/software or whatever you want to call it to show as much as they want or as little as they want.
