So, I've been blogging since June. Working every networking, directory, and forum option that I can find (for free)... I leave comments on other blogs, and I'm ranking in the 500K's with Alexa (at the time of this post) with over 430K sites linking in to mine... So how is my Google PR still a zero?
Anyone with some insight into this quandary? Your input would be HUGELY appreciated!
Thanks again,
Aria

AriazInk based on what you wrote, my guess is that you do not have any quality links to your site. But the bigger question is why do you even care about the green bar?

Certain blog review sites (paid to write reviews) won't hire you if your Google PR is not at a certain number. And what do you deem [b]quality[b] links... Because where my links are, many of them are on sites with good PR and Alexa rankings.

Well its common knowledge that Google will drop your green bar once they flag you for selling links in posts. You can call it a review or whatever but solicited reviews are still frowned upon.
So all you can really do is find some review services that don’t place emphasis on the green bar.
did you say you have 430,000 inbound links?!?
i could be way off base here (
), but if your blog is relatively new and all a sudden Google sees 430,000 inbound links i will think your playing games and sink you to 0
However there must be a mistake here...I'd be very surprised if that figure was true

Thank you Nic, finally a reason that makes sense. And yes, I did say that many ~ that's what Alexa tells me I have... and I haven't done anything fishy as far as I know... I just market like a madwoman on every free directory and social networking site I can find, I comment regularly on blogs I like, and from time to time ~ like now, I post in forums. 430,891 inbound links according to Alexa (even if my ranking hasn't swapped over to today's number yet) and it probably isn't counting the new stuff I signed up for today.
I think something is screwy with Alexa (ps. be weary of Alexa - see this: http://forums.site-reference.com/viewtopic.php?id=6109)
I looked in Alexa and you are right
However i looked at Yahoo Site Explorer and it shows 477 links: https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/s … &bwm=i
I trust Yahoo over Alexa
If it is neither the above or what WS has said (which he could be right on mind you), I'm not sure what else to suspect unfortunately.
Perhaps moving away from blogger and getting your own domain may help, but oi doubt that's the issue.

G'day Ariaz.
Just a couple of thoughts that you might like to follow up on and verify, one way or the other.
Check out you links in Yahoo explorer, as suggested by Nic.
It's likely, from what you've told us, that the sites linking to you are sites, just like yours, chacing PR.
Yes, the other bloggers that you rub shoulders with at the social networks, in many cases, don't care about your blog or it's content. All they want is the same as you: readers, backlinks and PR, but give nothing. So, ya see, nobody wins. It's just a round circle of nothingness.
You don't get readers, good backlinks or PR.
So if you check this out and find that I'm somewhere near right, you may then wish to come back and we can help with some better direction for your blogging.
I see that you really are having a go. Seventy one posts in six months. Not a bad effort; better than two posts a day. Do you ever rest?

TBPR also takes an age to update, and is really only a measure of number of pages and quality IBLs

Thank you all for your great insight and the links... Awesome! I'm working on it, and yes, I'm up to a 2/10 which isn't fantastic by any stretch, but it sure beats a zero ~ and the best ranking I've ever seen on a non-business related blog is a 4/10 so I'll take the 2, no problem! Still going to work on it, but at least it isn't a big fat goose egg anymore. Thanks so much y'all!

Thx Laurie, but no, it's more like 1 every two to three days once I started really launching it... I'm a writer, more than three days, and I'm writing 6 paragraph answers to forum posts... LOL!
How did you get over 430K links to your site? Maybe thats your problem.

AriazInk, I love your blog.
Carmen
I've seen somewhere that you also have to get some clicks from search engines to add factors to your PR. Ive been checking out some sites with high PR, but when i check their backlinks, it has no backlinks on google, only on other search engines.

Awwww, thanks Carmen!!!
You need quality and quantity backlinks and fresh contents.
Pagerank isn't that really important. You should worry about your ranking. But if you really want to improve your PR, write quality content and build quality links for your blog. Also exchange links with high PR blog sites.
I think you need to update your site too, write more content, and links to some relativity sites.
Quality content and quality related backlinks can help your site with PR, It can also help with SERP..
