Even though I fear the repercussions of admitting this in here, I am a chronic Internet Explorer user.
Sorry- but for some reason FireFox takes forever to bring up pages here and patience is not something I excel in.
While I resisted the urge to upgrade to IE 8 while it was still in beta, I finally did so on Monday to see how the new design here would look.
Ever since doing so, my browsing life has been a nightmare- pages don’t load at all, they render horribly, most fields contained on various website do not appear or won’t let me type anything in them, when I make a post and hit the enter key instead of brining the cursor down a line, it submits my posts, and too many other weird little things to mention here
While I know a good deal of people here use FF, has anyone else that uses IE experienced a persistent pain in their #%@ ?

with you as in ie user mainly because the majority of my customers etc use the same and need to be on the same wave length
installed ie8 beta when it 1st came out http://forums.site-reference.com/viewtopic.php?id=7923 but really had the same experience as when ie7 beta came which is ****
I find these beta to be so far off the finished article that i am suprised that they are released at all.
my advice remove it - not that easy as it does not show as an installed program need to look in the updates and remove from there - and wait for the finished article.

No, IE8 is NOT the devil -- Microsoft is.
OK, seriously, somewhere between Windows 3.X and Windows 98, I got tired of paying to be Microsoft's guinea pig. It's not just Microsoft, many programs are tested out by suckers...ummm, consumers (me included), who are actually willing to spend money on something that should still be, at the very least, beta versions. I've given up. IF I ever go to Microsoft Vista, it will be about the time news comes out that Microsoft is getting ready to launch its next "latest and greatest." That's about when Vista is finally over all its screw ups.
Now they don't upgrade IE like they do their windows products, since it's "free." (They don't seemed to be bothered that "free" costs time and effort.) I'll upgrade to 8 in a couple of years -- about the time eveyone stops complaining about all the problems it has.
Then again, think positively -- at least you're not paying for the privilege of being their guinea pig. (Sorry, Nic.)

I think you're all right
was told IE8 had a compatibility view, which would let users see sites in IE7 (and it does)- so if worse came to worse i could just revert back
however that too is a pain
back to IE7 for me
on another note...anyone care if their sites render in IE8? i saw a few issues with this new design in IE8 so there are variations between 7 and 8

...anyone care if their sites render in IE8?
unfortunatley we have to care. such a large proportion of my traffic uses ie.
I will wait until ie8 is launched and then see. One of my fears is that ie8 is going to render more like firefox etc so in theory remove ie hacks and all will be ok but then the hacks need to remain for those using 6 & 7 .this could create a royal mess.
I wait with baited breath, but on the bright side our customers will have to pay to put right !!
