He he... like the title?
I was looking at my alerts this morning and noticed more than a few peeps asking this.... which prompted a little rant.... and my quote of the day;
(asking Google about links) “is akin to asking the cops where the best fields are to grow your pot. Sure, they would know…but“
Anyway, it is posted here on the SR SEO Blog - the Next PR update

I don’t care if it is an innocent question… it’s akin to asking the cops where the best fields are to grow your pot. Sure, they would know… but uh…
LOL
I use the Google Toolbar, but have TBPR tuned off as it's a distraction
However i must confess that I am one of those...

I understand some peeps still just get an emotional response to new (higher) TBPR
simply because so many people (including advertisers which i care about) still don't get the whole TBPR thing

yea, there are SEO boards far and wide that have never ending streams of PR this and PR that convos... and it is a strange thing. The emotional response is always my fav... like peeps are getting a gold star from the teacher... hee hee....
But I just had to shake the ol noggin' when peeps were actually going to the G boards to ask... why not ask them where to get the best paid links while we're at it.....

Gypsy, you're funny! Yeah, or we could ask them to tell us where we can pay $39 and get 1000 PR4 links.
Does anyone else get emails offering stuff like that? A friend of mine tried one even though I tried to steer him away. I looked at his results and they were disappointing. Not only was the PR advertised falsely, but what they were calling links was link submissions. His $39 got him about 8 links so far from PR 0 sites that have very few if any incoming links.
As in the real world, you usually get what you pay for.

'Get what you pay for' - is a true thing... most peeps get lazy and think that it will keep up with the Jonses... when in truth, the right way is rarely the easy way...
Did a few posts recently (the SR blog) on the link building basics covering directories;
Getting the most from web directory submissions
And a list of directories
As for those lovely emails... he he... I have a collection of them and intend a little rant about them at some point... I am VERY wary of outsourcing link building since it is an area that can cause one grief, or be a waste when done improperly....
