Hi there,
Am looking to build a large CMS with 2 areas...1 that is Open Source, the other secure and managed by me.
Needs to have capacity to scale big time and take Maps, Banners, Pod Casts, Be Fast, and International. Any thoughts?
:)Always grateful

WP (WordPress) is one option, Mate.
Make the posts open to your signed up members. Give them publishing rites to the appropriate level.
The pages can be you're secure section.
Alternatively, join two WP installations in tandem, linked in the top bar. One open to joining as a member and the other restricted to yourself.
Either way it's quite easy. Just a few clicks to set it up.
I'm currently working on a project where I'll eventually have seven WP installations linked and skinned alike. This means that the search is limited to the particular section of the website. See: http://www.southimage.net/john-mcdouall-stuart/
Alternative platforms would be Joomla and Drupal. There would be plenty more options.
Regards,
Laurie.

Thanks for that. I've just had a look at wordpress......and their terms of service....it looks like its a FreeWare item that can be used for commercial purposes. Have you experienced problems with it ? I'm always worried by a freebie.....

wordpress is one of the big blog softwares on the market.
If you check with your web host there may be an option to have it easy installed (if you have cpanel as part of your hosting package.
This is the easy way - you can of course install it yourself on your host, or use the hosted version with wordpress (I think you will find some limits)
The easy install via cpanel is the way to go if you can.
Cpanel also has a range of other CMS for free and with the same easy install
