Re: Help!! Please...
Go back to the software providers website and see if you can download the mac version
If there is no mac version and you believe some SEOs do use macs then ask yourself this:
How are they doing there stuff without the software?
Answer is - they don't need it. Can you really tell me that you need all that cr*p?
I used IBP years ago and it was pretty sh*t, and xenu - isn't that for checking links? if you're site is database/cms driven (it is, isn't it? hint hint) then you won't need such software

Re: Help!! Please...
Thanks Northie,
My problem is, that the SEO I must do is not for the link shown in my signature. That is my very own site, but I do SEO for 8 bingo-casino websites, which require bunch of keyword studying and they are not configured as mine.
Why did you think IBP was pretty sh...tty? What other tools do u recommend?
cheers!

Re: Help!! Please...
Hmmm... i would also be pretty disappointed if i got a new imac... i would be bleak about the software not working to.
(j/k... if the opportunity arose i would have one to... not to replace my pc but just to look at)
IBP is cool if you need to spit out pages and pages of keywords and various tests done on em and people linking in and people you want to link out to... etc etc... etc. With all honesty though, spitting out pages and pages of useless information is about all IBP is good for. You should find a stats program you can add into those sites and utilize that information rather, i use godaddys stats and it works great, bounce rates, time on pages, keyphrases, trends... etc etc - essentially if you are doing anything worthwhile on the seo side it shouldnt matter what computer you are on, all these third party apps are just there for business owners to oogle over and feel that they are on top of their sites.
So dont stress about them not working
There are other ways of getting relevant information that will prove to be far more useful to you.
(dont hate your apps though, some are useful - seo administrator is good for validating pages... then again, so is validator.w3.org)

Re: Help!! Please...
the other question is "Why would you even think that any of your existing software would work on a Mac??"
They are like petrol and diesel - both are fuels for motors, but are basically different.

Re: Help!! Please...
Ok, well, here goes.
First, congrats on the Mac! I've been using a Mac for about two years solid, I'll never go back to a PC.
But, that doesn't necessarily mean I don't have a need for using Windoze every now and then. Cross browser compatibility, etc.
Some options:
1.) Purchase and install Parallels Desktop. You'll need a copy of Windoze, but Parallels allows you to run Windoze inside the Mac OS, like a virtual machine.
2.) Boot Camp. If the iMac you got has Leopard, Boot Camp is already there! This allows you to boot into the Mac OS, or Windoze. You can even specify the default boot disk.
3.) Set up a Windoze machine somewhere, and install VNC software. Then, use a program like Chicken of the VNC to connect to the machine. It's slower, but just another option.
You may wonder why you'd spend so much on a nice shiny Mac just to load it with crap software like Windoze. Well, unfortunatley (IMO), Microsoft still has the biggest chunk of the market share, as most people have negative feelings toward Apple, even though most haven't used one since the Apple II
Here at work I have a MacBook Pro, 120gb HDD, 4gb RAM. I recently reinstalled the OS and got rid of the Windoze installation, but I used Boot Camp and it ran Windoze better than my PC!

Re: Help!! Please...
Last time i used IBP was in 2004 and all it did was submit to directories, and i had to fill out the same form for each directory. Soon found something that did it a lot faster, can't remember what it was called - maybe something like directory submitter 7, but we soon found that automated directory submission was being picked up as spam and google took offense.
I use tools i've built myself, along with online keyword tools like the adwords keyword tool.
On site optimisation's is pretty easy and if you have a database driven site you shouldn't need to have to do a lot, just tweak the templates. Also google sitemaps are doddle for dynamic sites, no need for 3rd party software there.
I also auto-magically build hundreds, maybe thousands of pages purely for SEO and host them on a directory-style subdmain of my site, but content generation is getting tricky
For me, the ball-ache is getting links. Still not great at it but I enjoy spamming blogs using an RPC script i found the other year
