An increasing number of us who access this forum have laptops and spend time on the road with them. I wonder how many have mobile printers?
Do you have to remove bubblejet cartridges before transporting portable printers so that they do not leak? or perhaps carry in a horizontal (operating) position rather than on edge? I have an HP Officejet.

I have an Officejet that I use for travel and I have never removed the ink during transport.

I just got a reply from HP.
They say that it is best to transport in normal operating position with the cartridges inside the printer.
'Keeping the printer in vertical position damages the functionality of the printer, the ink cartridges will be misaligned, and the ink may even leak from the cartridges.
'The other disadvantage of keeping the printer in vertical postion is that the paper feed rollers get damaged, which results in improper paper feed and the printer may not feed the paper properly.
'Therefore, it is recommended to keep the printer in normal operating position even while transporting to avoid damage to the printer.'

EarlW , sounds like common sense stuff. They only thing I could add is if you fly in private aircraft with a laptop and or printer, don’t store them in the outside storage compartments. At one time I had an employer that flew us around in private jet and it was not uncommon for items stored in the nose or tail to semi freeze.
