Black and White Images for the Web and Print
Well, G'day.
Ive just now produced a black and white image from a digital colour photo, to use in my Wilderness Travel blog.
The photo comes from my recent outback photography trip and depicts the modern, female shearer along side her male counterpart.
Thought you might like to see what can be done. You see, it really gives me the jim jams when I see digital black and white photos that are really no more than colour photos with the colour removed. I think it will be a while yet before digital displaces genuine black and white film and paper as a fine art medium of the quality produced, even by amateurs, in days gone by.
You can see a larger version of the image, in the blog, if you follow my signature link. There's a brief description of how the image was achieved in the computer, to approximate what I'd have done in the darkroom, in the olden days.
Black and white images as product views, aren't used very much at all, on the web. The reality of true colour has taken over from the power of a striking black and white image. The web has come into it's own concurrently with the digital camera.
Regards,
Laurie.
