So I have a new site (Sub-domain, but whatever.) and I need to know what you guys think about it. There are three different themes, so please split your reviews into three sections: Default theme, Dark theme, and Forum theme. Please tell me which theme you liked the best, worst, and why.

Also, here is the link that lets you access the dark theme:

Re: Please Review - http://sora.phppoll.org/

Sorry, I don't check out the review section like I used too, I've just been frustrated by how many I've seen that don't really have control of their design.

Looking at your light page, the design is very nice.  It works well in Firefox.  Problem is there's some glitches in Internet Exploder 6.  First, on the right side where you have the gradual background, there is a problem where the banner overlaps; IE6 doesn't handle transparent .pngs properly, so that area looks gray.  You might consider using a .gif for the banner instead.  Also, IE does the margin wrong on your sidebar div, causing the sidebar to push up against the "Welcome to my webpage" section.

On your dark page, your contentheader divs look kind of dark, you might consider lightening them a bit to make them stand out.  Again in IE6 there are some problems: The same problem with the sidebar div exists here, but also the button backgrounds don't show properly because of the transparent .png problem in IE.

Code-wise, it looks very good.  The main page is clean.  There's one warning on the projects page, you've used the name "key" on two anchors, which means if you're linking to those anchors, you're probably only going to get to the first one.  Also on this page I'd clean up the notes in red on the right side.  one is pushing outside the border, and others are wrapping to the left side.

I didn't dig too deep into the forums page, but it appears to be in good shape, though HTML Validator did flag some errors in the code.

First off, sorry to the other people on this forum that are talking to me. I feel quite sick right now, and will reply once I feel a bit better. I can't think out my replies as much as I'd like right now.

Anyway, Overklokan, what do you mean by "Line up the boxes?" Could you explain that to me in detail? I'm not sure if you mean my nav bar, or my content boxes, and I thought both were aligned.

To be honest I don't really care about IE6. It seems very outdated, and I don't want to mess with the code hacks to get it to show up good. However, thank you for taking the time to look at it in IE6.

I was aware of the red note problem and planed on fixing it as soon as I updated that page to have my current project on it (Once I finish it.) but I was not aware of the "key" problem. Thank you for telling me.

As for the validator, I've recently checked it, about fine minuets ago, actually, and it was fine. Could you recheck it and tell me what the errors are please? And also what page you're talking about? and what style?

Ah, I understand. I'll look into lining up the boxes, but I am not sure I can move the updated text that high as that is part of the banner. Is there a way to place it there over the picture?

Also, just to let everyone know, I am currently without  job, and have no money. This is why I do not have a full domain. I have already had three websites in which I had full domains. My website however is 100% XHTML 1.0 validated, and also CSS validated. I am very committed to it and want to move it to a full domain when I get a more active forum member base and have the money.

Mistake. A well designed site will run on all versions!

If I may be a little critical, the site to me does not look like a games site! A games site should be something FLASHY, cool looking with loads of movement, links to gaming sites, cheats platforms etc...

That's a games site.

This site to me seems like a PHP development site! Give it some colour! Give it a little more SHOOSH.
Go to Google, type in FREE ONLINE GAMES.

Check out a couplf of those sites and see what I mean.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's a bad site, it's jsut not a site suited to GAMES.

Re: Please Review - http://sora.phppoll.org/

In the end, it's your web page, but I do notice that there's still more IE6 users out there than Firefox users combined.  I can only dream of a time when people start getting smart and ditching Internet Exploder all together, but I won't hold my breath waiting for it to happen, or ignore the fact that not only do the fools* not look at other web browsers, several haven't even bothered to upgrade the one they have.

As far as the forums page; just click on your W3C xhtml 1.0 button on the bottom of the index page (http://sora.phppoll.org/Forums/) and you'll see them.  finding the mismatched <div> tag should fix three of the errors.

* I apologize to any I may offend with this statement, but I just don't like Internet Explorer.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's a bad site, it's just not a site suited to GAMES.

My website has no coding errors, so if it's not displaying right it is because of the browser, and I don't wanna use a hack that will cause me to lose my validation.

Anyway, thank you for your post, but I think you are misunderstanding what my site is about. It's a site for me developing games, not just giving people free ones. That's why it looks so different from those kinds of sites you're thinking of.

I've made some changes to my site, like the red tags are fixed, and the last modified is two colors now. If anyone knows how to get the red tags as far right as they can be please let me know.

Also, if anyone knows how to fix these IE6 problems without losing the validation please let me know.

Thank you all for your useful posts.

Re: Please Review - http://sora.phppoll.org/

a simple fix for the sidebar menu problem in IE6 is to put this line after your #sidebar style:

Code: css

* html #sidebar { margin-left:5px; }

This will validate properly, but only IE 5.5 and 6 will pay any attention to it.

Re: Please Review - http://sora.phppoll.org/

Okay, I added that in and everything is still okay. Anything else I should know about IE6 or any other browser errors?
Also, could you check out my new Review section and tell me how I can make the content format look better?
Oh, I had to change servers so the website is now sora.programming-designs.com

Should I review some sites than make a new review request since I got a new URL?

Re: Please Review - http://sora.phppoll.org/

lolabove You've pretty much established yourself as a regular here, so you don't need to review more pages to get another review of yours.

The position of the buttons is corrected in IE6 tummenupp , but I'd still consider converting your transparent .png files to transparent .gif files to fix the gray background that IE6 replaces the transparency with.  Alternatively, you could replace the transparency in your .png files with the actual background that should normally show through.  The easiest way to do that may just be to do a screen capture (Alt-Printscr) from FireFox, paste that onto a blank image, then trim it back down to the proper size.

I'm confused, when I try to access your site - I get a 403 Access Error.  Maybe it's my computer.
