Domain maturity
I have been reading an article that suggest that when search engines rank links those from mature websites carry more weight than new domains
Is this true and if so how much importance is there . i can see the logic with link farms springing up but there is also a lot of valid new sites out there

Re: Domain maturity
from what i've also read that seems to be the consensus
however, i think, and would need to double check with more knowledgeable people in SEO, that websites linking to you are evaluated on a whole range of factors (not just age), which gives that particular page that's linking to you it's PR
and it's that particular pages' PR that matters

Re: Domain maturity
From my understanding, websites (or page) go through sort of a roller coaster effect after they're created.
The coaster starts high w/ newer pages (if pinging, etc.) so there is a good chance of your pages showing up for a little while.
The coaster drops down significantly if the website/page fails to maintain the "excitement" that it started with. This basically means that after the "new-ness" of a page wears off, it's gonna drop down quite a bit.
The older a website/page is, the more likely it is to have it's own authority. This is where the roller coaster starts going up again. As it ages, it gains more value.

Re: Domain maturity
If I am not wrong, your point is that the older the websites and also the links the better. This is true, especially for the websites launched before the Sandbox era.
