I dont have a Window's machine readily accessible at the moment, but for those that care:
Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1
Yay...think it's any more standards-compliant than 5, 6, 6.5, or 7?
uuuyyy
how old is IE 7? less then 2 years?
You think it will be more compatible or is this just going to be yet another browser we need to adjust for?

Yeah, 7 is still a baby.
A quick look at that site and it says its CSS2 compliant, standards compliant, etc, etc. But, its Microsoft, so who knows
One thing I found interesting is that it says you can switching rendering engines to emulate 5, 6, 7, and standards-compliant 8.

Whoa.... that is seriously cool. Is someone up in MS starting to pay attention to the webmasters now?

Actually, it appears so. It says that IE8B1 is 'For Web Developers and Designers'. Maybe they finally realize that STANDARDS are...uh....STANDARD!
Too bad it's taken 8 versions to get there!

All I've read says it's supposed to be CSS 2 compliant, but they are adding a new tag that's supposed to tell the browser what version of browser the page was written for (or something to that effect); so it's more microsoft embrace and extend. Personally, I'm not in a rush to try to take advantage of microsoft's new compliance, since so many people are still using IE 6!
Do you think that explorer 8 is to fix something in Vistas explorer, and to make the xp users get a feel of vista?

No
We're talking about internet explorer here, not windows explorer.
I did, however, put IE8B1 on my WinXP SP2 machine at work and it was sh*t
It couldn't find the CSS
the IE7 emulatore required a restart
the attempt at firebug is just insulting
