If you want immediate result, PPC is the way to go. For short-term traffic, do social bookmarking.

Quickest way to get traffic: Have great content or news not available elsewhere. Contact bloggers and websites and ask them to link to your site and that type of content. If you stumble upon the right blogger and the right site, you can get a few thousand visitors in a day. Of course, unless you can continually repeat that, your traffic will spike and then fall back down to a much lower level. Those types of quick volumes of large amount of traffic are kind of like a drug with a big downer problem.
You are much better served, if you can afford it, thinking long term so that you don't have to worry about riding spikes. You do this by improving your back end and then constantly doing various forms of link building for an hour a day.
Guys, I am too looking for SEO for my travel tokyo site, I have done some blog comments, forums posts as well as some article submissions too, however, I need more advice to get more traffic,

Another semi-quick way to get traffic is through an advertising site like AdBrite.
I agree for immediate targeted traffic PPC is the way to go. You can do social bookmarking but its going to be less targeted with a much lower conversion.
Thanks this thread is full of information.
I find using free classified ads works best for me to get quick traffic
The quickest way would obviously be paid advertising, but most people are on a tight budget. For the rest of us, the best tactics for driving quality traffic are book marking, forums, articles and niche marketing. These tactics can work really well if done correctly.

The best way to get website traffic is to use Pay-per-Click services like Google, Yahoo or MSN.
Another way you can get quick traffic is from Affiliate Programs and Strategic Alliances.
High rank on SERP can definitely help you with, Traffic but it will take sometime, Social Bookmarking for me is the most easiest way to get traffic.

Its funny you should say forums because I read the other day that google no longer takes forum links (in posts more then sigs) as strong as thay did in the past year and before that.
This is said to be because it was one of the easiest ways for the spammers to build links. So I would count too much on your forum links any more.
I will try to find the source of the article I was reading so you can see if anyone wants it.

I actually don't agree with you on this that Social Bookmarking and Social Networks can bring you quick traffic. As you need to spend a lot of time to create groups and add friends to your user, and once you gain a good credibility among your groups and friend list then only you can expect traffic from those sources.
I get great conversion from a few posts in some quality local directories.
My links on local directory pages are found by people wanting to shop in their local area, and although I'm probaly not local to them they buy online because I have free postage.
I guess this depends on what type of business you have.

Well thats just what social bookmarking and networking is for, getting people to come back time after time and if you do it correctly then it will work very well.
This can then lead to those group members passing "word of mouth" to friends, family and so on which can always grow and grow so the possibility of it can be much grater

Yes, true. However exactly that's depend on your purpose. If you sell a product and want to get targeted traffic, you should try PPC ads like Adwords or YSM. But If you just promote a blog, you can follow some traffic exchange to increased traffic in a fast way.
I think you can drive more traffic to your websites by joining to social bookmarkings, social media and social networking sites...
