4. Submit to article directories
5. Answer related questions on yahoo answers and add your link.
6. Commenting on popular blogs with your link (only if relevant)
8. Contact blogs in your niche, request link exchange.
9. Install viral widgets to get traffic and backlinks.

Of course, it does take time to build links and traffic.

If you want to get the traffic than build the website for visitors. Yeah this one is time taking but believe me this one will lasting for long time.

Daily updates is much more important and should be unique content. It would build readership from your site and value to visitors.

I can see written in many places that traffic means money. This statement is half true as sales depend on conversion rate. I mean that better a poor traffic with a high conversion rate than a high traffic with poor conversion. Do not take me as philosopher, but in my opinion the quickest way to get good traffic is to advertise (post) in those places most visited by potential customers. But this is not easy or simple at all.

To get a high traffic to every sites is need more time for opitmization.

if you have passion for offfpage optimization and make friends in social media community then you can get lots of traffic.

Paid Advertising is not only the answer. Its complete SEO. Paid Advertising may or may not give 100% result. Its the risk or the chance taken to gain more traffic..

Maybe not the quickest way, but definitely becoming more popular:

Post the same question on 10's, if not 100's of online forums. Make sure the question relates to your own site's content topic and that you have backlinks in your siggy.

Then, wait for a while as unsuspecting members of these forums create a discussion on your chosen topic and therefore a page full of content related to your chosen topic.

If you're lucky, the senior members of these forums will fall for your ploy and add some real Gem content as well as their own backlinks to their own high pr pages from their own siggys, giving the forum page even more PR by "Linking to relevant content". Whats more, the links on the page will go to the seniors High PR sites as well as your own, and of course, your links will be higher on the page than those to the high PR sites, increasing the size of the PR slice your links pass on.

Granted, everyone who takes part gains alittle something from their siggy backlinks, but in all honesty YOU would be the only person to fully gain as:
1) Yours would be the first siggy links on the page
2) Yours would be the most relevant backlinks (you are choosing the topic afterall)
3) You would be doing the least of the work.

Make sure you occasionally go back and post something to re-ignite the debate should no-one have posted for a few days. Flame-baiting is good and usually gets the seniors posting again to try and prove you wrong. Make sure you quote another member in your latest post, that really gets people posting again and increasing the word count and keyword density.

Repeat this process on as many forums as you can find that will accept your topic of dicussion. Dont bother changing ANYTHING in the question text, there's no point and if you were going to do some work, you wouldn't be following this line of attack.

Oh, and Hope against Hope that:

A) Nobody rumbles you and your name gets known as the spammer you are and you end up banned.
B) The forum does not eventually Nofollow all siggy links.
C) Google does not catch on to this increasingly popular trick and eventually algo out the first siggy in a thread or the sites they point to.

It's only a matter of time before A) B) and C) all come to fruition.

for me, link building like what you have enumerated is effective until you have reached the first page of SERPS. Once your site ranked, you'll get a lot of traffic then (if your keywords are competitive).

IMO, combining the right SEO tools and approach will surely gain precious traffic, but not sure about how quickly. Just like in paid advertising, where there's still a chance of not getting your money's worth. I doubt that there is a magic wand to quickly gain traffic for your website. But if there is, then I'm all ears.

Find yourself a seat at meetings related to new website designs, CMS selection, and online campaigns so that you can continue to give search marketing a voice a the table.
