G'day arc. Welcome to the forum, Mate!
It's difficult to give you a consice answer. What you need is to study SEO (search engine optimization). You'll find heaps of help from the archived and current articles and posts on SiteReference. There's also the new SEO blog and Marketing blog.
Now, if I've got it wrong, then I'm sorry. It seems to me that you've got into an affilliate set up. Obviously the site that you have is way beyond your ability to build yourself.
It's not your site that you need to rank for, it's your individual keywords and key phrases.
There are two excellent articles that deal with what you need by David Harry (the Gypsy) in the new SEO blog attached to SiteReference. There's also the SEO handbook which you can purchase through my signature link.
Get your head around what you can of these and then ask questions about what you don't understand. At the very least this will give you an idea of the amount of learning that is before you to become a successful web buisness person.
Finally, arc, it often happens that people come to the forum, having been told that making money on the web is easy, no experience necessary, just get the programme and you're nearly there. That's rubbish. The people telling these lies should be taken out and flogged. If you've been taken for a ride, then it's up to you to decide weather to put in the work needed to make it work or to cut your losses and get out. Either way if you want help from the forum you'll need to give solid comunication. See the amount of trouble I've gone to to help you? Well, you'll need to match that at the very minimum.
So write a decent story about where you're up to.
I wish you well with it.
Regards,
Laurie.

I've found that optimising for different SEs just aint worth the extra hassle
Different types of people search in different ways and use different search engines
The early adopters that didn't take things much further will probably search with yahoo
Younger people, and those who search the net on an hourly or daily basis (ie where access to the net and research maybe part of the job) will probably use google
MSN sweeps up the rest
I'd look at doing some in depth analytics on your existing web logs, and find the answer to this question
What is the conversion rate for the traffic sent to your site from each of the search engines
For example
Google sends 1000 visitors a day. 1% of these convert
IE google gets you 10 sales per day
Yahoo sends you 300 visitors a day. 5% of these convert
Yahoo gets you 15 sales per day
MSN sends you 100 visitors a day. 0% convert
MSN gives you no sales
From this, i'd concentrate on getting yahoo up
However, if google sends 10000 visitors a day at the same 1% conversion ratio, i'd stick with playing safe in google as it's giving 100 sales per day. The work required to get yahoo up to (the equivilent) 5000 visitors a day just probably isn't worth it
Also be weary of of your sample size, if MSN gave you 1 visitor today, and that visitor bought something then that is a100% conversion ratio, but because the sample size is so small, you can't rely on it - how confident could you be that if MSN gave 100 visitors tomorrow that they'd all produce a sale???????
