Hi, Could you review current web site? It is business catalog of USA.  I need your estimates on performance and design as well. The catalog contains about millions rows, so try to use search or navigate by category/city to get company listing. (You can use any words like Microsoft, car and so on...).

OK, opened it up, and the first thing I notice is a serious lack of color.  I would start with a good colorful banner or logo at the top, then change some of the font colors to break up the text some.  Something like on your main page where you have each of your categories followed by their subcategories, you might make the category text a bluish text (not too bright) while keeping the subcats black.  I'm sure you can find other ways to add color without overdoing it.  The idea is to catch your customers' attention, not put them to sleep.  Give them a reason to want to come back.

So I s'pose ya could say that you have a great looking site with little substance. A bit tough, I know. Hope you're not crushed. Hook in, Mate, and fix the duplicate issues, then write about 150 to 200 words of unique content for each page. Be sure to do your keyword/phrase homework.

The things that I noticed are:

Your site is looking quite dull from a viewer point of view. Such a site will not be able to attract a lot of traffic.
secondly, there should be a min of 100-150 words content on the home page which is good from a seo point of view.

So try these two things and your site will start performing very well.

I thought about placing extra content for home page and some categories.
As you can see i have option to search company by combination of category/Location. I have about 9000 categories and 35630 locations so it will be pretty hard to do it. I could spend whole my life to put extra content for every page :-)

I also think that i don't need put content for category/location where i have listing for companies like that:

I also want to hear opinion about how information displayed in catalog. I have feelings that it would be better give user ability to select location and only aftre that display business categories for that location with number of companies in every category. What do you think about it?

good and easy to use very simplified with a common goal

The first thing that I notice when it first apears is "what?".  It comes across as a scam site first of all.  There are too many links and no color.  If I weren't trying to review it, I would be on and off of the site within seconds.  Its purpose is also confusing.  What is the goal of the site?  What are visitors supposed to do?

First of all thanks for your opinion.
I am answering on your question "What is the goal of the site?" - the goal of this business directory is list information about local businesses. The USA business directory is read-only now but I also have Canadian business directory which it editable and you are able to put information about your business in it  (not just url to web site- it works for small businesses which do not have any web site). I am planning expand functionality of this web site and add search by products and services - it will be Business to Business web site.

Here is answer on your question "What are visitors supposed to do?" - Search business contacts. If you you are not looking for business contacts  - this web site is probably not for you.

1) Is there any way how to build catalog without links? Just give me an idea.
2) Do you have any idea what colors would be good for business directory? I heard that current color chema is boring but what about suggestion ????
