Avatars

Hey! New year, new avatar!

Great photo of the 21 year old Nic. Don't ya just love it! blinka

I always reckon that a few avatars down the left hand side of the page give the forum a welcome, personal feel. Brighten up an otherwise, somewhat drab sight, too.

Avatars seem to set the people apart, who intend to stay and contribute, from those who will take and run. That's a generalization, of course, that will have exceptions, but it seems to me to be a pretty fair guide.

Regards,
Laurie.

Re: Avatars

Nah nah, Mate! I mean the avatars just as they are.

I think it's important that these little graphics give some extra indication of what the writer is really about; a graphic and telling revelation of the inner self. That's what an artist does all the time. I think the avatars that we have at present do a wonderful job of this.

A case in point is Mia, dotcomdiva. I took her to be a middle aged white woman. Well, that's what an Australian bloke of my age would expect. Now that she has a photo for an avatar I see her in a different and realistic light.

I intended for my comments about the avatars to be taken at face value, not tongue in cheek in any way.

Regards,
Laurie.

Re: Avatars

aaaa gotcha- though you meant adding a "MyBlogLog" type of feature that displays the 'latest readers' along with their avatars which i thought may be a neat feature as it would add a little more personality to the forums homepage

I know this isn't what you were after Laurie, however.

I kinda like the idea of having images of our younger selves. lol

Comments may be a little difficult to type with all the laughing that may occur.

Re: Avatars

What would be pretty cool is putting the avatars in the "Who's Online" section - show the avatars of online members...

Of course...there's not a lot of room down there...

Re: Avatars

Nic, you should change that photo. It looks too serious..... like some sort of preppy nazi rockstar.

Yes, there IS a reason I don't post a photo of myself. hahaha

I agree with M1- would be pretty cool and there is some room at the bottom- doing something with smaller versions of the avatars could work...it's an idea...

Re: Avatars

You can bitch about mine if you want, I don't like it much either. It's the only artwork I can find by the guy.... love his stuff, but that shows very little of his talent.

If you're looking for change, why don't you change the green hahahha

Oh yeah.... thats for my birthday. BTW, it's coming up here in a few weeks. blinka

Re: Avatars

I like your avatar Nic, it's so very "DIE HARD".  Being fond of Photoshop I might have added some explosions or mutated giant creatures in the background - but can't have everything :-D  Gave me a good idea for my next avatar!
