I’m new to the Internet and am planning to go in for a web-page / web-site for my small business. I know nothing about internet marketing and therefore would like someone to suggest me about internet marketing?

What's different between this question and you're last one?
Remembering just Laurie's advice...
Yeah, sure can, Mate! You're on it right now!
Spend a month or two looking around the posts and articles, both new and archived, and you'll learn a lot. There are also tutorials referred to in some posts that you could follow up.
As you get a feel for web business, you'll be in a better position to ask specific questions.
It would be a good start for you to build a dummy website, from scratch, starting now. This would give you a hands on feel for the task and an opportunity to experiment. Go for a free site for the time being. You can scrap it when you're ready to start for real.
And welcome to the forum!
Regards,
Laurie
...the politest assumption is you are a speed reader. As a speed reader, though, didn't you get your answer after following his advice, as well as the advice of several other kind individuals?
I'm a bit like my Dad -- a home-body, who really isn't much of a social contact kinda person. My oldest brother could sell ice to eskimos, but finds the big bucks in selling financial investments to retired folks, who own jaguars and golf for fun. The subject of Dale Carnigie's book, "How to Win Friends and Influence People," came up during dinner conversation once, and my Dad said he had read it, but it didn't do much for him. (I've obviously, never read it!
) Later on, when Dad wasn't in the room, my brother, who gained much of his ability by reading the book, had to add the obvious, "Yes, but you're SUPPOSED to APPLY it, too!"
Going back to your original question, try my brother's response, "Yes, but you're SUPPOSED to APPLY it, too!"
Starting a business, with no research or no effort, is as worthwhile as trying to sell bikinis to eskimos! You were given a good start on where to find the info you need (the responses to your first question) and THEN, figure out what you want to do, and the best way to do it BEFORE slapping up yet-another-website for any ole product that suits your mood for the day. (Not to be confused with creating a dummy web site, so you can learn how to make one. THAT is good advice, believe me!)
Took me 18 months to go from "I want my own business" all the way to actually opening it. Had to learn two things well -- what can I do well and enjoy and how do I get folks to want to be my customers. How did I do that? Read, while working my j-o-b! Hating that job helped too, making me driven to do that research during lunch, after dinner, and on weekends. I even read when I got sick, while waiting for doctor's appointments, or waiting for my car to be fixed. I dare say, I did nothing differently then anyone else on this site, possibly even less. You've been given the beginning of your journey. Want to keep going? Take THOSE steps already handed to you, followed directly to going on to the resources those places send you. (I can guarantee, I've already answered your question several times in this same folder -- kinda a clue that you haven't done the first step yet.)
Generally speaking, we're really nice folks -- obviously, not always
-- when you finally need questions answered that haven't already been given, chances are decent, many of us will be here to help. Warning though: not likely to get the same people answering your same question twice.

Wow!

I am also an online business marketer for the last two years and I learnt my skills from Analyzed Marketing Solutions! They have their website at analyzedmarketing [url de-activated by mod - it is against the rules to link to your own website, please use the signature for this] and I am sure that you will be able to get all the information you are looking for! Have a great time!
Reading old posts and threads will help you. Read, research and understand. Good luck!
I am providing you with some general marketing tips one could use to successfully launch their website on the net.Once you get your website readied you could follow them.
1)Tell Your Associates:There is no need to reach the unknown millions of people out there surfing the Internet, instead it would be wise if we contact our friends and associates.Look at your e-mail address book and get the word out, tell your business contacts, friends, relatives and tel them to tell their friends too. Channelise them in a proper way.
2)Link to Your Own Site:If you already have one website, make sure that this site is linking to your new site. A website without any incoming links to it will have a very low page ranking in the all-important Google search engine and will face an uphill battle to be seen in Google search results, especially if you are in a very competitive category.Even when your site is in the construction stage you, or even your web designer can link to the new site from another already well-established site, mentioning that the new site is under construction. If you already have several sites, then link them to your infant site. It will help the new site to be seen in competitive search engine listings even in its debut period.
3)Get a paid inclusion in one of the big search engines:It takes 4-6 weeks to get listed in Google, and other search engines are equally slow. However there are a few fairly important search engines that have inexpensive express inclusion programs. If you join these programs, then your site will be listed in 48 hours. Inktomi, which provides results for MSN and 100 other search services, has an inclusion program which costs $39 for the first URL that you submit, and subsequent ones cost $25. The value of the Inktomi submission is that they revisit your URL every 48 hours and if you make changes on the page you can see the results in the MSN listings very quickly. Thus, you can tweak your pages and see how it affects your position.
4)Add your site to the Open Web Directory and the major search engines:Quality is more important than quantity when it comes to search engine submission. Forget about the sales hype that tells you to add your URL to 300, 000 search engines. Only a few search engines and directories provide the lion’s share of Internet traffic. If your site is in good shape, no longer under construction, then go to www.dmoz.org. This is the Open Web Directory. Find the category where your site fits, and make a submission. If you are accepted here your site will appear in the many search engines and local directories that use the results from the Open Web Directory. Inclusion in this directory usually takes time but it will help you a lot. Similarly submit your site to Google, Alta Vista and All The Web, these are the remaining giants where you can submit for free.
5. Start a reciprocal links campaign – Once you have given yourself a link from your other sites or from your designer’s page, you can go out and ask other complementary sites for links.Always try exchanging links with sites that have a good page rank for it indicates that the site has good hits and is often visited.By having a trackback link chances of your site having hits is enhanced.
6.Write an article about your product or service – If you have a website the chances are that you are an expert in the field that your site is all about. Write an article about your product or service, or write an article related to the subject matter of your site. Submit the article online to various websites and e-mail lists dealing with your topic. The publication of your article in a big e-zine, or on a popular web site can get your new site off to a roaring start.
7)Promote Your Site Off-line – Now that you have a site, put the URL brochures, business cards, TV advertising, and circulars. The cafepress.com has a program enabling you to put your URL on these items and even sell them online.
Last but not the least be unique and be promotionally inclined initially for traffic generation.

Jeez there MR… making for easy pickings this morning mate…..
1 We cannot build a business around friends and associates. It should not even be a consideration in a marketing plan. Sure, spread the word, but it ain’t a plan.
2 Linking to your own sites from others you own is silly… mandatory for cross pollination if they are in vertical markets, but not part of a link building campaign. Furthermore, you should make sure your site is NOT INDEXED during the construction phase. Bad form… and having a web designer link to it? If the links aren’t relevant or on the same IP… there is no point.
3 There is NO POINT in targeting 100 other search engines. There are only 3 to be even remotely concerned about. I dare say that MSN/Live is even a secondary consideration. We do NOT want to be paying $40+ to get listed that is for sure. There is a difference in being listed (indexed) and ranking. What in the hell is the point to paying to be indexed when there are no rankings/traffic I ask you? A waste of $$$ IMO. You can drop a few links here and there to get some minimal indexing… FREE
4 NEVER submit to search engines… another great waste of time (see last point)
5 Reciprocal links are the lowest of the hanging fruit out there and are a secondary consideration when developing a link building program. I generally don’t even include them in SEO campaigns. Once again, not the makings of a link building campaign.
6 Article marketing is a reasonably viable method of link building/traffic generation. It should go hand in hand with the content creation plan for the site. Both are important.
7 Sure… reasonable advice….
There we have it…. Good morning to ya’ll

Hello,
regarding the same IP...may i ask if i want to link several sites together should i be hosting them with different companies and not just one provider.
(at present i have used the same company/account to host several sites and have some linked (ones with relevant content) but had intended to link them altogether in the future (but on distant pages ie page no6).

To be honest, if you are interlinking related sites.... then I wouldn't worry about it. I own a few companies that are web development related and they all interlink and are on the same server.
Linking schemes with a few sites is unlikely worth the hassle of putting each on it's own account.

Rocky.....
Hey there...
I'm also relatively new to the Internet Marketing story and I've had an Adwords Campaign for +- 2 weeks now.
Everything was going all good and well until my location was changed from 3 small target locations to a whole country... All of a sudden my min. CPC SHOT up extremely!
I have now changed the target location back to the 3 smaller locations and the min. CPC has not changed at all... Most of my keywords are inactive.
HELP!! Please!
It is just not going down......
Any help will be GREATLY appreciated.

Relating to Reciprocal Linking. I read somewhere that Google views this type of linking as artificial
and I believe they will count it as spamming!
Natural 0ne way back links from good quality authoritive sites are the best.
Hope this helps you,
