Hi guys,
I saw lot of advertisements for different courses and stuff about how to make money on the net. However, I feel much of it is just fraud. Can anyone here give me some genuine tips on how a beginner can start or where to look for the correct information?
Thanks!

It really depends on what industry/market you are targeting... what products/services you are providing.

Hey Dyna
i don't think most are fraud...perhaps "crap" is a better term
problem is there exists a widespread myth that making money online is somehow easier then offline - therefore a lot of people have tried to capitalize on that by putting out less then adequate info products just to make a few bucks from those that buy into this myth that there is gold in them there online hills
making money online is not easier- what the web does is open more opportunities but opportunities do not equal simplicity
now that doesn't mean there aren't good info products out there- there are, but like Dave said we would need to know your plans, your resources and goals first, because just like in the offline world the possibilities online are endless
it's worth taking some time to build a plan (even if it's just a rough one) for yourself- I touched on some research points here: Research Worth It?

I suggest reading forums like this and searching for other information
As a beginner you should be in learning mode
Once you have learned something; try it for yourself and measure your success
Reflect on what went well and what didn't
Then learn some more
Once you have a good idea of what you want you can start to buy in help (marketing/advertising/profession web design and development) if you need it

A good library -- at last you get to peruse the book before borrowing it. AND, if you take it home, and find it's BS, cost you nothing. AND, if you find it completely helpful and a great resource, then you can buy it to keep going back to it.
