Hello quartzy and welcome to the forum.

IMO, In general, you have a good site going. Consistent, fairly quick loading, there were just a couple pages that were on the slow side.

Just a few things.
The gold text in your navigation on the blue background is almost impossible to read. Needs more contrast.
With the links, a mouseover change of some kind would be helpful. Lets me (the visitor) know that it is a link and that I am on the one I want.

I was a little surprised when I clicked on the 'Blog' link, it took me to a page where I had to click on a second link to go to your blog. Make a visitor click too many times to get to where they want and you will lose them. Consider renaming the main menu 'Blog' link something like 'Recent Articles' or a related name for the page it takes the visitor to. Then, in addition to or replace the 'Enter Blog' link have the Article lead-ins take me to the selected article on the blog.

You have a tutorial for FP2000, Are you planning on and adding tutorials for the other/newer versions of FP? Including the replacement for all FP - Expressions?

In your footer links the pipe's on the top line links to your 'About" page. Is this intentional?

Re: Please Review - http://www.bytesizeoffice.co.uk

Thank you for reviewing my website. You made some good point that I will endeavor to change. I am not going to create tutorials for Expression Web at all but I  could complete some on FP 2003. Maybe I will find an article on EX Web
dont know what the pipes are that you talk about on the About page. But I will look into it as if it looks odd it is. I have silver links  and not gold I will make them more bold. Thanks again.

The gold text in the Menu I am referring to is "Information On" between the two menu sections.

Just took a look at your code and the Pipe I referred to in your footer links is actually a 1. Place your mouse over this between any of the top line of links. This is on all the pages and it links to your "About" page.

Hi
Thanks for getting back to me. I get you now about the gold writing not being clear. I've made some changes to the blog page and have yet to rename the blog. Also the pipe I get you now I will have to change that. thanks again.

Hi

as the site loaded my immediate reaction was ".. a lot of stuff going on here ..." but then right smack in the middle ( and the last thing to load ) was:

Byte Size Office
Free Training on MS Office

So that was great - I right away knew what the site was about. That made me feel good becasue I knew I was not going to have to search hard to figure out what the site was all about.

Now the human brain is funny.  Despite what I just wrote , it took me a little reading to actual register that the training was FREE.  In other words I picked up it was about on line training but not free. Strange is n't it, so you might consider underlining the word free.

However after that I have to say that the front page looks cluttered and things dont look so very well aligned eg

Left hand side : the colum with BLOG articles is wider than the rest of the left hand column.

Right hand side- the amazon colum sticks off on is own to the right.

So between those two comments it makes the shape appear disjointed to me.

Overall I think you have too much going on on the Front Page. Instead of doing " Excel, Word. Powerpoint etc"....Would you consider just doing ' Microsoft" and then that would link to a sub-page with all the microsoft products. That would slim down the front page.

great idea overall !

cheers
Ron

Thanks for your opinions I did check the blog articles page and it looked fine so I wonder what browser you are using. Good idea to make less of the menu style, something to think about. Thanks for your review

Im using Microsoft Internet Explorer

Just to be clear , I am commenting on the left side bar on the index page, not on the blog page. The left side has a list of items, they are aligned down as far as"frontpage".By aliogned I mean the are in a neat straight colum.  then the next item "Blog articles " sticks out further to the right . Hard to describe.

Hi again
thanks for your thoughts, but I checked using firefox and IE and it all looks aligned to me, as it is in the web editor, must have been a glitch.

Re: Please Review - http://www.bytesizeoffice.co.uk

First impression count for a lot and I found the look of the website pleasing and interesting. It might be the widescreen monitor I have but the layout of the website was aligned to the left leaving too much distracting white space to the right. When I flicked over the navigation bar I found no mouseover element and this would be confusing to me.

Overall it is a informative website and whilst its content may not be anything new it will no doubt be of great use to newbies to office applications.

Well done

Re: Please Review - http://www.bytesizeoffice.co.uk

Free training for MS is great; the site looks fine to me and if your clients cannot use MS I am sure that they will not notice the various small technicalities outlined by your other reviewers. However you are also trying to sell your stuff as well, and I think the 2 parts of your site could be a bit better defined with some more "hard sell" on the money-making part
