free hosted blog

I have been hunting around for a free hosted blog that does not have banners etc plastered all over them, but which also allows the template to be edited so I can place some Google ads.

Thus far all I have looked at either strip out the Google script or the templates cannot be edited.

Suggestions anyone?

Re: free hosted blog

I am currently using a blogger.com blog and threw some google ads into.. The template is customizeable. The only thing I am not sure, is: do Googleds pay for their own blog? Well, I donīt know by now, because I donīt have lots of traffic.

UPDATE: Iīve earned one cent! Iīve earned one cent! I am going to be a millionaire soon!

Re: free hosted blog

haven't seen one like that so what I did is install the WordPress blog engine in a free hosting (freehostia.com) site with no banners/ads from them whatsoever. that way I can customize everything in my wordpress blog.

Hello Matt

One of my favorites (beside Blogger) is Tripod/Lycos. Why don't you do a search on the best free spots?
regards, snezana

Re: free hosted blog

I use freehostia too but sometimes I can't access my blog (for some minutes). But the customer support is good enough. They say they will resolve the problem. But generally good enough. Also in free plan SMTP is disabled I mean blog scripts like WP won't be able to send you mails when you got comments or messages from communication form.

Re: free hosted blog

yes I have noted the occasional 'dead time' with the blog - I just thought it was the way I was posting (via a third party site).
The lack of email notification is not an issue for me.
