Re: Please Review - http://artist-at-work.co.uk
Would that be unmannerly to ask: "Is the site handmade, or is some sort of CMS behind the application?!"
Because, I'm thinking the next step might be ...auctions online, so usefull to know if it can be devolopped on the present platform.
Do you care so much of that left corner river...?! How about a tiny flash displaying the most representative pieces, or some news, events, whatever...?!
It's a wonderful, wonderful world... Depends on the way we take it, depends on the way we MAKE it !

Re: Please Review - http://artist-at-work.co.uk
Damm I will try again as I accidentally hit the keyboard wiping out my previous reply.
Margaret, I logged on using my trusty desktop computer with its rather square monitor to see if there was any difference to the white space I commented on in my last post. I have now eliminated the white space in so far as what is left is what one sees on the majority of websites. I accept that it seems to be a standard feature, however I always feel it is a waste of good content space but that is of course my personal preference.
I understand what you have replied to in relation to the search element and appreciate that many hosting options have their own little idiosyncrasies. Given that I understand the reason for its appearance and its sudden disappearance I guess I could live with it.
As for the layout etc, I think you have created a very well designed website that has its ability to be easily viewed ( a plus in my books any day). It does appear to look and feel like a professional and trustworthy website and one you have every right to be proud of.
Regards
Colin:)

I just visited your site and I believe that the content is great. It is obvious that you put a lot into creating your website and it clearly show.
My prayer is that your business exceeds your expections.

Hi Margaret,
I like the look of your site it is easy to move around and find what you want. The art work is great.
Keep up the good work.
Adding a logo would be a great idea like someone had put in there post to about your site. May be add something with lots of color.

Re: Please Review - http://artist-at-work.co.uk
Hi
I am a new one at web design and all but i would suggest that you have a more appealing art peice/logo that meets the eye of one that logs onto your site. The art is great but i think it should be the appeal that talks for you and describes you before the text. Dont know if i make sense.

Re: Please Review - http://artist-at-work.co.uk
Hi,
I like your new site... it's simple and elegant. I would very much agree that a nice looking logo is in order.
I'd like to suggest creating a Content Management System for your site.
Our CMS systems allow you to keep your existing design.
No programming
No classes
No learning HTML coding
No expensive “hidden” fees
Our idiot-proof, user friendly websites allow you to make changes to your website faster, easier, and more conveniently than ever before, with a click of the mouse.
I think this would really help you. You could then make changes in seconds FROM A WEB BROWSER!
Keep clients current with your latest news, promos and events
Manage your own content
These CMS sites come PRELOADED with blogs, forums, classified ads, banner ads, calendars, FAQ sections and more.
Would this be something you would be interested in?
Best,
Adam

Additional Comments
Hi
I am a professional artist and my website is designed to encourage people to visit me. My computing skills are very limited and the site was constructed using Office Live Basic which means I cannot do a lot of alterations. Ideally i would feedback on the layout of the site - what things are not there that you would expect, etc.
I intend to upload more images, but only after the basics are in place.
Thanks
Margaret
HI, MARGARET,
IT LOOKS GOOD TO ME. YOU ARE GOING TO CATCH THE EYE OF SOME ONE LOOKING FOR WHAT YOU CAN OFFER OF YOUR SKILLS. I LIKE THE VARIOUS CATCHY ANGLES, ETC. I QM NEW AT THIS, SO GOOD LUCK

Re: Please Review - http://artist-at-work.co.uk
Hi Margareth
The people know you through your wok, you put something of you in everything you do. So, where are you? (where is your work?) The web site need inpact. The information is ok. But we are talking about art, so shake my mind at the main page, the first impresion is very important. If I am looking art: ¿Why should I go into your site and not try to find a real good art website in google? I think this is going to help you

Make of your web site a pice of art ! you are an artist, so you can do it (you have the skill)

Re: Please Review - http://artist-at-work.co.uk
CONVINCING, yes I meant to shout. I think this is a fabulous site. From one who spent many a day as a child wandering around the Glasgow Art gallery and Museum as a child, having seen tons of paintings yours actually made me think.
I cannot find anything wrong with the site except, SHOUT, that you are a Scottish Artist! You will certainly know the effect the Scots have had on the artworld from Mackintosh etc.
I like the whole feel of the site and liked the slide show, it could have been faster though, guess am greedy and impatient!
Best of luck with it Mags from SCOTLAND!!!

I think the home page could look a bit more swish as its the first thing anyone sees.
But good luck to you and i hope you do well..

Re: Please Review - http://artist-at-work.co.uk
Hi, nice website, however I would do the following amandments:
1) keep same font throughout the website
2) keep same font size throughout the website
3) justify text to be displayed better
4) introduce more colours
Otherwise, good work!
Thanks for reviewing,

Re: Please Review - http://artist-at-work.co.uk
Love the artwork-don't agree with everyone-don't like the color-it's depressing and sad-artist should have bold flamboyant colors-anyway i think so-but your artwork is absolutely breathtaking-you are also now in the stumbleupon database-hope it gives u some traffic.

Hello Margaret,
How are you?
Your site seems doing good..!
I just wish to ask you if I could advertise on your site, can I?
I need 5 small banner placements. Want to start advertising now, but not that much earning to start with a ppc campaign so thought of asking friends here and there...
waiting,
Regards,

Re: Please Review - http://artist-at-work.co.uk
Hi,
I enjoyed looking through your site .I am color blind but had no problems seeing and reading .
Only one complaint or question really ... Why is it neccessary to remind everyone a dozen times to use java. Think maybe once or twice maybe would be more than enough. You want people to remember what paintings you have not reminders to use java lol..
Anyway you have done a very good job within the limitations you have and i wish you well.
Jan.
