This is my realignment of my company's main page. Please let me know what you think. I haven't actually validated it yet but I usually don't have any problems in that area. Mostly, just tell me what you think of the design, as the content will most likely change shortly. Thank you so much!
Have fun.
Its clean and simple. Real cool. Did you use a program to code this?

clean, simple consistent and valid
Did find a couple flaws.
On your portfolio page you have a "read more" out of place. Sitting at the top of the ''GMCJ Company" image.
On your contact page, you have two inputs not placed inside paragraph tags.
Received a 404 page when I clicked on the "Request Consultation" links on the print services page.

Call me old-fashioned, but I don't trust them. I type everything out myself so I know exactly what goes in and comes out.
ColoEagle - You must have an eagle eye (sorry!) to spot those flaws. Thanks a lot, it's a big help. I don't always catch all of that stuff myself - obviously - so your response is much appreciated. I'm not sure about the inputs outside of paragraphs since they should all be in a definition list. I find definition lists are the easiest way to format a form. I've also heard it's on its way to becoming web standard, so I like to practice that.
Thanks again!
Have fun.

Your welcome,
Yah, I agree that hand coding everything is the best. gives you complete control over everything that goes in or comes out. Of course if something goes wrong we can't blame the program
Little old school regarding the paragraphs and input tags. I have only seen a hint before about the use of the definition list for forms. Have you got any other information on this?

I learned this trick in a book by Dan Cederholm "Web Standards Solutions: The Markup and Style Handbook". It's a very good book and I highly recommend it. It's very well written and gives lots of tricks and examples. I learned a lot from it.

Basically, you just put your labels in the definition title (<dt>) and your input box in the definition description (<dd>) and you can style them individually while keeping the format consistent.
I googled "form definition list" and got a lot of results... http://www.google.com/search?hl=en& … ition+list

This site may cause you some duplicate content issues because of the content on dupontdesign.com
I looked at your newstyle. site from an SEO standpoint and site site needs some help. You need to rethink your H1 tag content along with repeating the keyword phrase a couple of more times in the page content - include the key word phrase in the title of the page, in both the keyword and description tags and use it as part of at least one alt image tag. The interior page titles should include one or more of the words in the main keyword phrase, i.e. if your main keyword phrase is "Web Site Publishing" the interior pages might be "Web Site Services, Web Site Portfolio, Contact Web Site Publishing".
On site SEO is important both for your SERP spot and the click through rate of it. You need to use the description tag as though it will be used by the search engine for the description returned with your URL because IT MAY BE!

Well hello DupontDesign,
I'm going to answer the question you asked...this is my observation of your design...just my opinion OK...cold and clinical but clean and well presented. Would suit a doctors surgery. Now, that's OK because I took the time to look at your portfolio.
If you are going to claim that "Dupont Design creates unique, attractive web sites that are both eye-catching and highly functional" then I will want to see an example of that on your landing page. Not everyone takes the time to stop and READ the text...visual people (and let's face it - most surfers on the net rely on image stimulus before the written word) want to be drawn in within the first 6 seconds. Your description of "eye-catching" doesn't cut it for me. Yet, "highly functional" is obvious from the second I entered your site.
I'm being picky on this point because you asked the question...not everyone will agree with me...yet I say it as I see it.
Man, I'm impressed with your skills and wish you all the very best.

WhiteGyr - Thanks for your input on the h1, title, and description meta tags...I had forgotten to change those over with the new site. The way I have my CMS set up, I haven't written the code to actually change those from page to page. Every page on the site has the same title and description right now.
elizabeth - Point well made. The web is extremely visual and people only read text if they have a book report due the next day. I was thinking about incorporating some visual cues on the main page in the place of all that text, although I'm still working out the details.
My company is not legit yet, but I am about to get my license from the state. I just wanted to get everything ready to launch and get a business model worked out before I leap. All of your input is very appreciated.
I suppose I would have to start another thread for advice on starting a web design company, eh? : )
I seen nothing wrong with the website, seem to give all the information you needed.
Debra

Now thats a good un
Couple of points for you
The site is wider at the bottom than at the top - I feel that as we are reading on a square oblect is is best viewed symetrically - just a personal thing
Your Font in the logo is great but clashes with the times roman ( I thnk ) in the content
good site though
