Image & Text Presentation Help

Alright, things are going well so far in designing my site, but I have a question. I'm not very happy with the presentation of the games, and I am trying to work on a way to add titles and descriptions to the games, but that is proving to be quite a task. As it is, I have figured out a way to add text above or below the images using breaks (<br>) and non-breaking spaces (&nbsp;) between the text. Unfortunately, this takes a massive amount of time for relatively unprofessional results. Is there an alternative? What I really would like is to have two large images per row, with a title and description on the right of each image... any suggestions? If there are any other professional-looking alternatives, such as detailed "quick pop-up" rollover text for images that someone can instruct me on, please let me know. Lastly, sizing the images using html sometimes has very unpleasant pixelated results, would using image resizing software be a better choice? If so, anyone know of any good freeware or shareware of the sort? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Brennen

Re: Image & Text Presentation Help

I'll start with the last question first, as it's the simplest.  Definitely, without a doubt, use software that is made for resizing images.  It is always better to have the image the way you want it before it gets to the user's browser; I haven't seen a browser yet that could do a passable job of it.

For the rest, you may want to get into the more intense side of CSS.  For example, you can wrap an image, title, and description inside a <div> tag, use CSS to lay out each part of the div, then "float" the division to the left.  Then as you add another such division, it'll stack to the right of the first; and so on till it runs out of space.  when you're out of space on the right for more divisions, the next one will drop down to the next row (you can take a look at my binoware page in my sig to see an example; though I wrap mine in an <a> tag for the hover effect).

These technical questions sometimes confuse me - I'm a blonde - but I use an image resizer called pixRESIZER. Free to download...great tool...reduces the file size as well as the image size...hope this is what you were thinking of...

Hi, I suggest Photoshop.  Download a 30day trial from adobe.com.  Its a great tool for photo editing.
