Website for Review

Additional Comments
This site is designed to be my main advertisment as an artist and main contact area for commission work. I also have a shopping cart selling commercial quality design images, posters and images you can use for craft/hobbies. It has only been live for 1 week and I've not had much feedback as yet. All feedback welcome :-)

Hello ktyart,
I have to apologize here - I have a reputation for giving quite lengthy and straightforward reviews - but i can't fault your site from a review perspective.
Maybe it is marketing ideas you need... what have you done to attract or drive traffic to your site so far? Once you've answered that question, then we might have a basis to make some other suggestions.
Nice work,
Elizabeth Richardson
Hello Elizabeth
Thank you for the quick response and its very very nice to know you didn't see any glaring faults ( I've been looking at it for so long I can't tell )
OK, what I wanted to know was if it 'sold' me as an artist?
Does it show off things well?
Was it easy to navigate and see the items in the store ( this was built for me from scratch so it would be good to know )
Should I take anything out ( too verbose ) or add things?
To generate traffic I advertise free images at the main computer graphic sites like deviantart, 3Dcommune and Renderosity. I've added the business to a number of free directories and search engines but I have very little capital left for advertising that costs me money. I'm also thinking of local ads because I hire myself out for commission work and design work but that can be done for international people too.
After 1 week there are no sales but I've had plenty of free downloads ( ie traffic ) I see this from the art sites and I've had plenty of mb go out as downloads....
So, what to do next???
ps - I've had the most productive morning here and I'm so impressed with the quality of info! Thank you!

I spent some time on your site.
Great work. You definitely come across as someone who knows what they are doing.
Only have a couple things to point out;
The images on the left. I was expecting to be taken to a larger image, surprised when I ended up on your store page. I hit my back button and clicked again thinking that maybe I didn't click where I thought I did. This could cause others a little confusion.
On the technical side you have 4 code errors on the home page with 20 to 45 on the inside pages.

Just a couple of quickies as I have to dash
1. The title tag - needs work - put some keywords in there
2. Meta desc - suggest not leading with the URL, put it at the end.
3. Visit my caricature site - link below - I'll do a link swap with you.
HI
I look over your site it has a good layout. You might want to spice up your home page it is a little bit hard to read. If you could just put key points on the home page and then have the indepth content flow through out your site should improve you your CTR.

Thanks for the feedback.
Point noted about the LHS images. Hadn't thought about that....
Re code errors - can you be more specific ( if you have time )? What type exactly? What did you do to generate them? Do you mean HTLM errors? It was tested in a number of browsers but I could have missed some....
thank you....

I absolutely love your website. I love the freebies and the try before you buy. I love how quick the pages load considering the graphics. The only thing I didn't like was the drab gray as the background. I think another color possibly brighter will make the art stand out from the page. Forgot to check on the return policy.
Thanks
Shonda Miles
Thank you for the review and the praise.
One reason I chose grey is because it doesn't clash with my images or cast a coloured hue over them - you can get very strange effects from combinations of colours and I wanted my artwork to stand out. I could always try a slightly lighter version to brighten the pages.....
my developer/builder has about 4 new meetings this week so my changes will be made later.....
thanks for the review
Cheers
Great site, I really like the basic layout, its clean and simple. Pages load quickly and it was very easy to navigate.

Hello,
I like it. Good navigation, no need to scroll down much, given the amount of information, subtle colour scheme, and a clear message what it is about. However, I would seriously reconsider fonts - they are a bit boring. and white is not generally readable, but I guess in the current colour scheme there is not much choice.
best wishes,
Hi Kate
I have been looking at your site and am very impressed with how professional it looks. I did however find some of the pages slightly slow to load - no doubt as a result of the number of images.
I am new to websites so can't give you any technical feedback, but will stress that it looks clean and upmarket. Well done
Margaret
Doesn't matter if it is a template, dynamically created or static complete handcoding.
Tidy will show the errors from the code that is placed for the page.
Did you visit your website or try it from your editor?
Now I am all for and push valid code, however the most important thing for any website is that it displays properly in any browser.
The DTD is important to accomplish this. The use of one takes the guesswork out for the browser.
Valid code is that extra bit of insurance for proper display.
Valid code helps to make your website more accessible to those that use asisstive devices or do not use the mouse for navigating a website.
