seems they need writing to help the hard of thinking.....
rule 1) if you know little about a product don't offer it for sale on your website.
rule 2) if you ask basic questions in forums about products you have for sale on your site you will be busted as being a blaggard who isn't qualified to sell that product. especially when prospective clients sniff you out to find out you're asking about the basics in a public arena.
rule 3) if you're selling seo services make sure you've got all the basics covered like title tags being distinct for each page.
rule 4) if you get busted take it on the chin - you deserved it for trying to take money from customers who were not smart enough to know you were full of crap.
thanks for the pm's and comments asking if i'm okay today or got out of bed the wrong side. i'm fine thanks, i just have a problem with people who think it's okay to sell stuff they evidently know diddly-squat about.
the spark that lit my blue touch paper.
LOL… a lot places/people don’t know what the heck their selling (or little about it) – go into any number stores and you’ll see that
What gets me is most “customer service” places I call these days are useless…
Anyways, when I don’t like to the looks of something I move on…if I lost it everytime I saw a suspicious site or offer I’d be a miserable man…

True, I don't care what others do with their site, that's their business but if they're a blaggard they'll get busted, they'll be the one with massive churn rates and a bad reputation.
I skip by anything that looks dodgy but the n00bs are uneducated bless em, yeah there's a sucker born every minute and someone to take advantage of them every other minute. Sometimes the best intentioned sites, those that don't mean to take advantage do just because of the owners' lack of acumen or authority and knowledge when issuing advice.
My new project is getting close to going live, I've been ringing up other companies offering similar products (yes spying) and I've been dealing with 'Sales Prevention Officers' who spout junk like 'we'll mail you' - 'we'll call you back' - you guessed it, nothing, maybe in that instance I was busted as being the blaggard!
Customer support is king, yes but that said I don't take any stick from my ringtone customers, I had one customer almost stalking me about her ringtone not working, in the end I had to tell her to take a reality check, put things into perspective and not get so emotionally carried away over a £1.50 ringtone sale. She didn't like it but I hope I helped free her from some baggage!

Another mini rant about e-commerce. That little badge that says 'Security Checked by XXX' means nothing. PCI compliance is the only thing matters, not like your average user would have any clue about what that is, they just see a seal, think it's safe to put card details in and fire away.......
I could rant many things into full blown articles, oh many..... As Nic says though I'd be a miserable man.
It's our job as responsible practitioners of the web to bust people when needed. If you see someone selling SEO with no title tags they need a proper slap.
Bad SEO - great name for a site, I hope you're making money on it just because it's so ironic!
Enjoy the weekend folks!
