Content partially missing

Technically, my website is still "under construction" in the sense that not all the links in my content [catergories] work as of yet. I update those very sparingly. Is this a bad idea? Because its almost approaching its year anniversary.

Hullo Flo ... not quite sure what yer askin???

How could it be a bad idea? U R building the site as U can.... not having things properly navigated is a pain for users... but if you have no people comming to the site yet, how could it be BAD?

Re: Content partially missing

when you say "the links don't work yet" does this mean that the links you have in your site don't go anywhere (ie #) or that when you click on a link you get a 404 file not found error.

The first aint too bad, the SEs will follow the links when you do have content and pages in and you put in a 'real' link.

If you can click the link and it tries to find a page that isn't there then this isn't so great for the SEs, but can be rectified by fixing the link

Re: Content partially missing

My suggestion would be to create the pages that the links will ultimately lead to, and put some relevant keyword text on the page as a place holder.

This will at least have the pages being indexed while you work on the rest of the site.

The former.

What I mean, a good 50% of the content [links] in the navigation direct to different pages as usual (example, the "Whats your favorite role?" when clicked will take you to that page, but another link "Fan experiences" won't since I haven't gotten up to make it as of yet).

Re: Content partially missing

The search engines will keep on spidering... so i reckon do what mark says and then keep on updating at the pace you can. Regardless, eventually your pages will be found, indexed, scrutinized and found by people (hopefully tongue ). Once you are complete - the site is finished - all your pages are in place, create a google sitemap, submit and then thats that big_smile
