New Board
Just a thought...
I've seen (and added) posts whose intent is to share a nice find - whether it be a cool site, free e-book, etc.
What about a board dedicated to "Useful Finds" or something?
Thoughts, anyone?

Re: New Board
I've had it. I mean a place on here (like, The Chat Room, Everything Else, etc.) where users that find something that others may benefit from can share it.

Re: New Board
Ooohhh.... You mean, adding another section to SR, so that SR users can do the same thing as StumbleUpon, but in relation to our field of interests (where stumble upon is labeled 'General')

Agreed.. I am pretty sure we had a thread like this recently?
Anyways, I am not a fan of 'general' deals we run into... but industry related would be fine by me.
..furthmore, I was telling Nic the other day about a board on Warriors that folks can peddle their wares IF it is below cost than anywhere else on the web ( specifically for board members) .... it is $20 to post on the thread which makes the forum a few $$$ and keeps the garbage to a minimum --
Main Board - http://www.warriorforum.com/forum/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=15
Rules - http://www.warriorforum.com/forum/topic … _ID=118939
Anyways, I am not a fan of filling up a thread with Spam offers from around the web unrelated to our core purpose around here.....

Re: New Board
Perhaps its a sign...
im gonna change my tune for this one though, its a pointless venture simply because its gonna call out all the sharks out there to make a quick buck... so why add the extra admin? Sounds like a mission to me... you could just make people like you and buy you beers... a dollar a pop
interesting site this "stumble upon".. i just learned how to make a real life aircraft, check it out http://www.funpic.hu/en.picview.php?id= … d&p=16

Re: New Board
These two posts were in the wrong thread:
MarkCCDC wrote:
I dont mean for a board that can get filled with a bunch of crap...
Maybe something on like a voting scheme - submit a cool find and if it is voted to be included, include it in the board (or something), and if voted to be deleted, delete it.
I just think it would be cool to have a place you could go to see what tools/scripts/programs/whatever others use.

I really like this idea - keep it all relating to the industry and provide a neat little place for people to refer back to if need be...would be a great thread to send some of the people getting site reviews to as well..
(OK, hope you can move this post to the correct thread though along with mine here - I just couldn't wait to tell you what I thought)

That was basically one of the very first ideas i proposed here when i joined SR (i too based it from Warrior)
At the time it was received with mixed feelings here...some thought it could work, others (like in the thread above and this one) just saw it a SpamFest 2006 (was a year ago)
...in the end there really was not enough enthousiasm for me to explore it any further
from the recent conversation though it seems like we're generating some ideas that would help cut down on spam and such so it is evolving...perhaps it will click one of these days...

Re: New Board
I am all about the $$$$ brother. The Admins/Mods already have to police the boards and deal with spam... at least the Warrior model pays for some of that.... we'll get Spam regardless.... it would just be nice to make a few $$$ from it.....
If it increases the profitability of the forums section of SR... I am all for it!
