WTF is with the 'Thank You' messages that clog up my message center here? Can I turn it off??

I could care less aoout WHOM has thanked me.. it's appreciated, but not why I am here. If I wanted to stroke my ego I'd simply go look in a mirror... he he

Seriously, what value is a one liner auto-generated message? I keep thinking it might be a message of importance only to keep finding these.... Yuck.... 'delete' - 'delete' ....

The personal ones I get from members actually mean something.... these? Almost like 'Thank You SPam' here.... ha ha ha ha

must admit - i couldn't understand why one member had written specially to thank me..........especially shortly after wring a post that was verging on flaming that member....

That would be nice.... not very important, but a nice feature ----->

Have something in the user control panel that tells you WHO thanked you, and in exactly what thread (not the individual post, otherwise you'd be seeing 'Thank You''s for your post "Hey, no problem... thats what I'm here for").

Obviously kept completely separate from the PM's, no e'mail notifications, etc.

Not really a big improvement per say, but would add to the overall environment of SR.

Does that mean every time somebody clicks the thank you button you guys get a spam thank you?

Yeah... we get  ' A big thank you from MEMBER NAME' and that's it..... first one I thought.. 'Gee - Skip doesn't talk like that'?? Once I started getting more I realized it was 'Thank You Spam' h ha ha ha.....

The personal messages are wonderful ... but this TYS ( thank you spam) is just silly... I keep thinking there is ACTUALLY a message waiting for me....

And like mentioned above, it doesn't even tell you which thread/tibit of information has helped the person..

Some members had request this (so they can know who thanked them)...now some members don't want it...tough to please everyone

anyways...working on changing it so that by default it will be turned OFF...and then if people want to know who thanked them they can activate it...how's that?

UPDATE: thank you notifications have been turned OFF by default

if you want to turn them on to see who thanked you, you can do so in the "Tip Me Settings" portion of your "Profile" (link) located at the top

Now Gypsy...i think i deserve a 'Thank You' for that

HEY... apparently ive been thanked a few times and i havent gotten any notification?! Although it could be because i was more likely thanked out of sympathy than "actual" mind blowing helpfulness.... maybe i should take a peek
