Google Key Words (Google Adwords)

I just have a question, I'm not sure where to post it.  (Is there an area just for  posting questions only?)  Anyway, here goes:
I signed up for Google Adwords.  (As my site ihas only been live for a week or so).  What a cheapskate I am...$25.00 only even though they say $50.00 should be the least.  I really just wanted to do some learning about how it works, of course I'd love to see some traffic.  I noticed something which raises a few questions.
With one key word:       (japanese pottery) I got 134 impressions and 8 visits to my website.
With another keyword:  (Japanese pottery) I got  17  impressions and 0 visits to my wesite.

This makes me wonder about case sensitive effects.  Does this have the same effect on the words I choose for the keywords for each of the pages of my website?

Other very different results for "tea cup" and "teacup", also "arita yaki" and "aritayaki", but those might be be expected..

Re: Google Key Words (Google Adwords)

basically it involves a hell of a lot of research into your target market. The adwords market is by definition very competitive which means that the way you write things is quite important... if i am trying to sell ipod videos directed to a younger market, chances are i will not say "i-pod videos" - i would rather write "ipod vidz" simply because much of the younger generation is either lazy or ignorant tongue (who knows) either way - they don't spell real good lol and because of that i know most of my market is not going to use full grammar and i will without a doubt get more visits from my target market by strategically mis-spelling my ad words.

That is essentially how you should look at things and note that many (most) people, unless they are looking for something very specific, will not bother with caps and therefor will find your japanese pottery far more often than Japanese pottery... not to many people will type japanese with a capital when searching in general.

Hope this helps big_smile

Not to sure about this one, generally though, i keep mine all lower case, for reasons stated above and the thinking that on page seo may not be as painfully competitive and strict as adwords. - if i were you though, i would keep my on page seo similar to my adwords keywords (just in case there are some relevance issues - rather safe than sorry i reckon.

Hopefully someone with more insight jumps in to correct/confirm big_smile

and... apparently on page meta-keywords arent "majorly" important anymore... try some phrase based tags rather roll like instead of "japanese pots" try "authentic japanese pots" or "original mexican pot...... plants".... depending on your product of course... he he

Just a not GreenTea...

don't stop counting at visits...use the "impressions => visits => desired action" model to track your success

If you get 8 visits and none of them do anything (ie. buy, subscribe, contact you...or whatever your desired actions are) then they do you little good

You are completely right to start with a small budget...these things take a ton of research and its easy to go bust quickly if your not carefull

Do a lot of research, plan your startegy and then start narrowing in on the terms that are producing resluts, tweacking them all the way along to see what works best
