"Google desperately needs to level the field a bit ..."
This line is the beginning of the description (taken from the post script) of the lead article in the latest SR newsletter, and written by a Ross Dunn, who says, in his author's bio, "Ross is a search engine optimization and placement expert with over 9 years of marketing experience and is a Certified Internet Marketing and Business Strategist (CIMBS)." The article is really about Wikipedia, but given his credentials, I found that line questionable. Obviously linkbait, but I rather enjoy linkbaiting.
I find it so hard to believe this article has caused no commotion on this forum -- pro, con, or a bit of both. Being an emotion time bomb myself, I just gotta know -- how come?!

If I could find the article, I would leave a comment. But I know what you mean about "important articles", you write or comment about something that you think is very relevant but noone gives a hoot! I've written quite a few articles on identity theft and credit card fraud/pitfalls, you'd think there would be lots of people interested in this esp. on the internet. I give tips on how to protect yourself etc and noone gives a rats **s!

Just go to the main site and look in the left column for the article entitled ... "Is Wikipedia Corrupt".

Oh my word that was a lot of reading... its just like soap opera. i am glad i am not into the world of editing.. .id hate to go one on one with fruity cross dresser with a power complex and obsession with the fantasy worlds.....
Lise de Broer... her name even sounds rough. One must ask the question though, in light of the article, what are the chances that the article published on wicky wasn't falsified to tear her down?
just kidding, way to many links and way to much effort just make some chick look loopy...

Who fricken cares? I like Ryan, began early on to feel this wasn’t objective reporting, I second the Soap opera angle.
Why after, 9 years is it? Has he not figured out life ain’t fair… and nobody cares. Wikipedia themselves aren’t exactly angels either…
I am pretty sure the same algos apply to WP as they do the rest of the web. Are we suggesting a manual adjustment to lower their rankings? Or are we insinuating manual adjustments have been made to inflate them? Hmmmmmmm
If other encyclopedias want play, they can do the same SEO work as the rest of us. Do the same branding and promotion work and heck, some PPC if they have to. That’s how it works.
Like it , love it, hate it… really don’t mean squat. Search engines are a business, not a public service. If you don’t like the way they operate, you are free to put a Meta NoIndex/NoFollow tag on your site. bwaa ha ha ha ha ha ha
I never did like Soap Operas anyways… I’m outta here :0)

Re: "Google desperately needs to level the field a bit ..."
Yes, that's what I mean about the article causing no controversy, or even, hardly any notice -- first there's the soap opera aspect, then the whole "is Wiki becoming the newest OSD aspect" (OSD brought many pages of reaction in the past), and finally the whole concept of shoving in the aspect of someone proclaiming to be an SEO expert questioning the fairness of Google's algorithm.
But that's what I mean, why are there no comments (until I brought it up, and even then, most of them seem almost to cause a yawn)!? The article seemed bent on causing controversy, yet seemed to work better as a sleeping pill. (Snezana, I don't think you caught on to what I was asking. If an article is truly important AND is informative and trustworthy, most use it without commenting. so there is no need, nor desire to comment. It simply stands on its own, usually.) Do y'all simply get amused and move on? Is it a case of, "Why write anything? The author already has his/her mind made up and nothing will change it?" Or am I missing something? Are the only worthwhile articles the objective ones? Enquirering mind wants to know. LOL
