I hate it when writers think everyone is a moron! I hate being told what I should do, even if it is a reminder of what I really should do. And, I really hate it when a writer doesn't even follow his own advice. With those pet peeves, Dr. Worstell really got my goat today!
Overall, what you have to understand with search engines is that they are built to emulate how we think and to give us what we want.
Why do I HAVE to understand this?
What anyone wants from the Internet is valuable information really fast.
Really? Is that why YouTube sold to Google so quickly? Is that why those silly jokes, stories, and hoaxes fly around the Internet faster then Superman reversing time? Is that why Flick'r has set the Internet ablazed in photos of any conceivable thing including such "valuable information" as pictures of Teddy Bear tea parties and snow sculptures? Seems to me, many people just enjoy entertaining themselves with humorous stuff on the Net too.
>Preparation - the first key to success: You should have an idea of what you want to write.
Well, gee whiz, we never thought of that one! Oh wait, we all have -- just some have chosen not to write articles, while others just can't seem to come up with "an idea!"
Once you've got the essence of it, boil this down to a short, but catchy abstract. This is a come-on to exite interest in your article.
Good advice, I think?! Should have caught on to skip this one from the "come-on" that exited me. (Not sure if it did or didn't exite me really, for obvious reasons.)
Finally, check out your article for typo's and grammar problems. As most of these articles are reviewed by humans, any errors could cause a reject.
Goes along well with "exite," and yet, is quite contradictory compared to these "shoulds:"
People don't use grammar like they do in college. It's hard to understand.
Check it for spelling errors (but don't change your grammar - the way you wrote it when you though it is just fine).
And speaking of which...
People don't use grammar like they do in college. It's hard to understand. People like to read short sentences and brief thoughts. Speed - it's all about speed. Our modern speech is very much like this, a shorthanded series of words in an order we can quickly understand.
Is it possible to strip someone of their degrees -- high school, bachelor, master, and PhD? I think I've found someone, who shouldn't have wasted so much time in school! Granted, much of the writing for the Internet is in simplistic sentences, however, it has to do with the medium, not the ability, desire, or mentality of people. Grammar is still important for business writing, and some times for casual writing. If there were no complex sentences with proper spelling and grammar, several people I know would skip coming online all together. We are all not so stupid as to be unable to understand it. It's only about speed sometimes. It irks me to no end when folks like to prove how much smarter they are by suggesting all others are morons!
Meanwhile, let me add a few points where he was simply wrong! (Is that even possible with a man of such education and superior knowledge above the rest of us?)
Just write is in your favorite word processor program.
...if you want strange looking characters instead of Smart Quotes, and if you want letters to be used as bullets.
Check it for spelling errors (but don't change your grammar - the way you wrote it when you though it is just fine).
I wonder if he is the one proofing those articles that make us wonder if English is the author's primary language?! Does he really, if only he knew me better, think I should skip reading and reviewing my articles without worrying about grammar, or, more precisely, ignoring everything but typos, or doesn't he understand the workings of a mind that can create the longest run-on sentence in the world without really trying?! Then again, this certainly explains how he can contradict himself in the same article.
This is the real punchline to your article, why you posted it to begin with.
You want to submit your article to as many article directories you have time for.
Just write is in your favorite word processor program.
Check it for spelling errors (but don't change your grammar - the way you wrote it when you though it is just fine).
Poor grammar and typos not noticed.
The resource box must give the person a reason to click, or at least give you credibility by listing your expert qualifications.
Degrees do not give qualification for expertise. Specifically degrees in comparative religions and Computer Systems do not give you expertise in making money online, although, apparently blasting out a bunch of self-help books on your own publishing wizard does do something. Not sure what, but seems to do something. Rather makes me wonder if those three dozen books were actually written by him, or can they be claimed, simply because he used his "publishing wizard" for other writers. Having checked out the titles of the books, ... well, let's just say I'm still not impressed, especially after reading most of the article.
In getting your articles submitted, you really need to get a program called an article submitter.
Arrrggghhhhh! It was hard enough to continue to read on, once I discovered that we, who use the Internet, are morons. It was impossible for me to go past this one.
There is a plus side for this article though -- at least, it's not a published book!

Figured you were asking for a detailed answered. When it comes to the big quiestion fo articles, BL, and dup. content, no answer can beat Northie's answers. Best thread to read (paying particular attention ot Northie's answer, of course) is http://forums.site-reference.com/viewtopic.php?id=4785.

If you do read this article, please ignore this section ^
Writing articles for SEO purposes is merely a tool for getting a good quality back link.
The article provides relevant content around a link to your site.
Some people will copy your article for content on their own site, most will keep the link intact (as part of the article directories terms of service). as the same content is picked up and the same link/anchor text then the link starts to carry less weight.
Blasting out articles using an article submitter only speeds up this process
Thanks for the link to that post, Lynn - I had forgetten I had written that!

It may not seem like it, or, often may not feel like it, but I do remember important stuff often.

Reminds me of Steve Martin's bit on how to make a million dollars, tax free:
"First, make a million dollars!"
