Re: Please Review - http://www.decipheringlife.com

Hello everyone,

Thought I might answer the blogging question from my own experience...

I'm just in the process of changing my huge site into a series of smaller ones which is already working so much better. My blogs (provided the content is added to regularly) gets stacks more hits than a standard website without any direct promotion, providing the keywords and phrases have been chosen thoughtfully. My forum gets abundantly more - but it's time consuming to maintain.

I have used wordpress (and I really like it) in the past and I'm checking out some of the other free blogging software now as my next site will be another blog. As soon as I submit a post to my blogs, the SE's are there only seconds later and it's been interesting as I check what keywords people have used to find us.

All the best,

Elizabeth

P.S. By the way, I also strongly agree with the comments atwhatcost made some time ago...for you Cipher, you seem to like writing your articles and a blog would be an ideal place to jot down your thoughts.

Far out - what a transformation!

One thing to make it more user friendly though...I went on to your about us pages and the navigation wasn't in the same spot on each page...I had to use the back button because I hate getting lost on a website...maybe others will have the same reaction.

Beautiful improvement Cipher and your articles are really accessible now.

All the best as usual,

tummenupp looking much much better you're doing great storstark

I agree with Elizabeth, consistent navigation is highly important. Along with this you should also have consistent design.

I did find a few problems for ya to take care of lol

Not getting all the images on relationships/index.htm

Different design on sculpture/sculptures.html

non-existent page dimension/games/Games-menu.html from the poems link on decipher_it/Sphere_theory-How_prayers_work.html

Little short on time right now. More later.

Done with the changes... so was working a bit on traffic, I am so wondering... why does google and yahoo don't send people my way. I am getting just 15 visitors from search engines per day on my site. I have more than 300 pages and there are so few visitors.
Would anyone suggest, what would be the best marketing strategy for me? Where should I concentrate now?

Hello Cipher

What keywords are you focussing on to attract people to your site?
I couldn't find any meta description or keywords in your source...

Hi ER,
so good to see you again,
Oh my gosh...! i forgot to add them, since created all of it again I forgot to add meta tags and description, silly me
I am targeting on keywords related to my articles and poems.

Hello Ryan,
The inner sections are yet to be transformed, won't be changing the horoscope section but I am thinking of removing the art section as a new site has come up with the same content (visit the new project in the signature).
Rest, I will be now working on games section and adding more of fun content and managing it.

Hi Jasiel,
It is the advise of people here that I have managed to keep myself motivated with the website. It is so good to learn... and when you are surrounded by such helpful experts, you ought to enjoy it.
Thanks for the support

Regards,
Cipher

Nice to see you too!

It's a funny thing about BIG sites...from my experience, they don't get the specifically targeted traffic that several smaller ones will...that's why I broke up one of my sites into 7 smaller ones....MMMMuuuuuchhhh better.

Keep the pages short - you can only have 3 google adds on one page anyway.

Make each website about a specific topic - a niche site, so to speak.

These things work for me anyway.

Having appropriate meta keywords seem to help with the type of adsense that shows up on the site too.

Good idea - better insert the meta tags there too.

Done the modifications... check out the section of my website turning into a site itself. It was fun, and still the best part will be uploaded by this month end.
Changed and added the meta tags and descriptions too... see if they are ok

and on top of it I have added a new article, check it out...

Re: Please Review - http://www.decipheringlife.com

from what I gather you have made some improvements on your site.   I just got through reviewing it.
You still have some minor corrections to make on your grammar.  I like your articles although one thing I didn't like is the ad you have on the right-hand side 0f the page that keeps flashing back and forth.  That will distract people from reading your articles.
We're all  use advertising to make money.  You don't want to distract them with flashing advertisement pop-ups they will lose interest in what you are trying to say and move off your site.  You better off using  arrows that they can click on to view more ads.
If you going to have astrology on your site then it should be on a daily basis or a monthly basis instead of the yearly basis. That'll draw people back to your site to check on your chart. All in all I think the site looks pretty good it easy to read.

Now I don't know if you're working on your site now and took it off line.  But after I get through reviewing it I couldn't get back into the site. I thought it might be me. So I copied your URL and pasted it on the top of my page. Still got the message couldn't find your site. I don't know if this is first-time this has happened to you. but I would definitely look into  it.

Re: Please Review - http://www.decipheringlife.com

Have made changes to the navigation and tried to keep it uniform throughout except my personal section. I have started optimizing each page individually hope that gets me better results. have added keywords and tags where ever I could and am waiting till the end of this month to get the statistics and check if anything improved.
Till now it is th same story, around 20 Search traffic each day... and most of it coming for either the horoscope pags or a specific game... these pages have no backlinks and no special keywords too but still they manage hits, wheras my articles, poems and other content pages get nothing.
Surprisingly, horoscope and games are the most fought after keywords and I am getting that traffic even when my site's theme is not that.
Can any one suggest the cause?

Cipher...the horoscopes and games are what people want!

Your articles and poems might be better utulized on a blog - I suggest wordpress (only because I use it and find it excellent)

I use the FREE dot.wordpress version to post articles, photographs etc and then use links to send traffic to my sites.

Wordpress (and probably most bloging software) has an automated system that submits to the search engines imediately you make a post...so no waiting around for the S.E's to find you.

I had a local newspaper find my photographs after only 3 weeks...and they visited me the next day , then published a feature of my work in the following weeks paper.

You can use the hosted version of Wordpress (which is still free) at the domain of your choice.  The advantage of hosting your own blog is that you can use adsense to make some money directly from the site.

Whatever you do, people will only come if you have something they want.

All the best,

ER

Re: Please Review - http://www.decipheringlife.com

Hey Cipher, looking good mate, the horoscope section is still a bit off though? But its functional so no stress blinka
After you have optimized etc the only thing you can really do is wait, build backlinks and wait some more. I know it is very frustrating to optimize pages and then have to wait weeks before they start bearing fruit but it is unfortunately the way of the web, some people get re-evaluated daily, others monthly. Dont let up though, keep on pushing, go find some poetry related forums, if they are decent consider joining in, chances are people will start clicking the link in your signature (real people who are really interested) and that may even give the SE's a reason to see what the fuss is about glad

Code: html

<meta name="Keywords" content=" deciphering dreams, dreams, law of attraction, life, dreaming, meaning, deciphering, decipheringlife, meaning of dreams, purpose, happiness, power of mind, deeper level, insight, theory, attract, happening, attraction, belief, destiny, mind, successful, situation, ideal situation, money, achieving success, fascinate, spiritual, nature, living, happiness, who am i, goal, want, continuous, thrust, effort , perfect, more, need , survival, worry, company, result, external , factor, creations, view, power, power of your mind, joy, celebration of life, thought, positive thought, happening, relationships, relationship, celebration of life, thought, positive thought,">

This is not going to help you though, only use keywords that appear in your description and in your page content, use a maximum of 7 keywords or 3-4 key phrases per page, some may argue that its irrelavant but there are still some search engines that look at keywords and you are opting to get flagged if you have so many, plus you may find that narrowing down to specifics will help you target the right words in the serps. Better to be number 5 for poetry than number 25000 in everything.

Deciphering Life Dreams Success Relationships. Articles and Poems
These words (your title) should be in your keywords, content, description and alt text on images. Make a seperate page for each other thing you want to target... for example, write an article about "who am i" and target that phrase in your description etc... you are far more likely to see the results you want. It is a lot of work, but in the long run it is in your best interests to get used to doing this kind of thing now.

All I have to say is WOW!!!
I love the site and really can't do a review on it.

The stuff between Ryan and the other guy is going to keep things a bit unsettled for me.  I love Ryan's opinions and constructive criticisim.  At lest when he tells you something stinks he tells you how to fix it and doesn't show off his knowledge or ego or jealousy.  Haven't seen any thing bad from him in this topic, but I guess when someone is not ready to listen they won't.

Keep up the good work .

Hey thanks for that Nic,
It is good that the comments are filtered now, as I also have a link from my site to this page... just to let the visitors know how the site has transformed from time to time.

@Ninak : Thanks for the review, Yes I agree Ryan's contribution towards the development of this site has beeen substantial. infact everyone who has contributed here has done so, very beautifully.
Even the blunt reviews work very well if they are a bit constructive and show you the deficiencies. One has to be positive and keep on working for good. Even your crticics will love that attitude and that is how I have tried to incorporate the suggestions.

I am not able to work at a great pace at present as net in unavailable to me. But soon I will be back with something wonderful that I have in my mind.

Waiting to get back on track...
