Oh, ok
Thank you!

Another popular free article directory site would be GoArticles.com and my Free-Article-Directory.net (hope you don't mind me mentioning it here, it`s getting quite some traffic)...

how can you submit a free article??
What about duplicate content issues?
Another concern -
I recently submitted a single article to a directory ( the particular one isn't important ) - a few days later, I found where someone had posted the article on their blog - the blog owner used the first paragraph of my article and then linked back to the article directory page for the rest of the article.
My expectations were that the blog owner would have linked back to me - maybe he/she just didn't understand the process - in any case, this didn't really help me at all... or did it? I expect that having a second hand back link from an article directory likely isn't very useful in the sense that the search engines are aware of the purpose and all..
These are the ones I use:
ArticleAlley.com
ArticlesBase.com
ArticlesFactory.com
ContentDesk.com
EzineArticles.com
GoArticles.com
IdeaMarketers.com
SearchWarp.com

Duplicate content IS an issue. If you submit to many article directories you should give a twist to your article every time. This however is time consuming and can be automated, at least to an extend.

Thanks for the suggestion, and I don't mean to argue, I just want to get the best understanding that I can.
I can see where that could help to a degree only, it would then have potential to create other duplicates as well... seems like a catch 22..?
What do you think about any potential benefit to my site from an article that links back to the ezine directory which contains the complete article, which then links back to my site? Short of a few people actually reading the article and then hopefully, clicking another link to my site - what or where is the benefit to my site? I suppose having a catchy closing statement to encourage a click would be a good answer.
This only creates more backlinks to the ezine directory rather than my site; the reason of course, for submitting an article is increase traffic to my site and not the ezine. Maybe I should look for an article ezine site that would allow for links to my site within the article but then, whoever uses the article could change it if they so desired...
I hope this generates more discussion on the topic!
Thanks!

Hi,
In my http://www.Free-Article-Directory.net I expressly allow people picking the articles to modify them to make them unique. Of course the author links and resource box need to remain active, also the original articles meaning is not allowed to be altered.
The common rule of not allowing people to modify the articles is really outdated, although most article directories still stick to it.
With todays dupe content filters up and running on Google, MSN, Yahoo, dupe content has no bright future.
Having the original same article without modification spread over the web does not help nobody:
- the links will not be counted valuable as being embedded in dupe content
- the content will end up in supplemental results, at best
- correspondingly the article author has LESS advantage, the article directory has LESS advantage and the publisher who legally copies the article to his website has LESS advantage if following the "do not change anything" rules.
I think article directories and authors should go the path to accept slight modifications to the articles as long as links and author name remain active.
Only problem I see here, with the articles altered, how can we control a copied article has been credited to the author?
All The Best,

Uhh... changing the articles without permission sounds like copyright infringement to me and open for all kinds of grief. Or did I miss something with the DMCA?
I don't understand how you have come to believe having an article re-printed everywhere is bad? It most certainly is not and DOES get credited from the SEs as far as Link Love is concerned, which is what we want.
I can’t see anyone using a reprint article as a target page for a SEO campaign. As such, if it ends up in the SI or as a Dupe means little in the grand scheme of things. After-all Duplicate Content issues are not a penalty but a filter.
Content syndication and redistribution is far deeper than simple ‘article repositories’ and the like – from RSS feeds to news syndication, it is a common practice. As such the fine folks at G/Yah take it into consideration. It is not considered flat out to be a manipulation of the SEs rankings algos – much of it is legitimate.
The whole point of a heavily ‘link weighted’ ranking system is to judge popularity of a given entity. If you article is published a TON it must be popular.
This is not about penalties; you would need to satisfy more infractions than simply having some dupes running around to raise any red flags or cause a situation that would actually HURT your rankings. The ‘dupe content penalty’ theories that abound are off base and we shouldn’t get to busted up over it.
Once again, read up on the differences in duplicate content penalties and filters.
So there ya go…. Just had to give this area one good rant as I see common misunderstandings about it everywhere.
As always, read some SE patents to understand the concepts of document indexing and retrieval to get a better feel as to how they approach such complex issues – which it truly is.
SUMMARY – don’t get over worked about Article marketing and Dupe ‘penalties’ – even filtering still picks up the links and you will get credit. The more your article is published, the more popular it is. This is a GOOD thing to search engines.

I like to add something along the line Gipsy just mentioned, just using other words to express it stronger
as long you have a longer version of the article on your site, you never have to worry about duplicated content; in fact; the more copies are out there of your article the better the article must be !

I have this one bookmarked: list of top 50 article directories.
Gets updated frequently, maybe daily.
I personally don't bother to use it
It's not my job to spam upon.
Give it a try
I already used that site...I think you have given some more article submission list... I'll try to the list.. then I'll be back....
