Please Review - http://sora.programming-designs.com/
Website for Review
http://sora.programming-designs.com/
Additional Comments
So I have a new site (Sub-domain, but whatever.) and I need to know what you guys think about it. There are two different themes, so please split your reviews into three sections: Default theme, and Dark theme. Please tell me which theme you liked the best, worst, and why.
Also, here is the link that lets you access the dark theme:
http://sora.programming-designs.com/?style=dark
Also, could you check out my new Review section and tell me how I can make the content format look better?

Re: Please Review - http://sora.programming-designs.com/
Okay, so I updated my website's look some. Nothing big, just fixing some IE6 errors and other small things.
Currently I would like input about my Reviews section.
(x) Does it look good?
(x) Should I make the dates red?
(x) Should I add a (new!) tag to my latest ones?
(x) Should I bold them or anything else?
Also, please tell me if I have any more errors.

Re: Please Review - http://sora.programming-designs.com/
Houston, we have a problem.
I took another look at your page in IE6, and found a black column down the left side. Taking a look at the css, it appears as if the problem is with #bordermaker1. I gotta wonder why you set a transparent border of 150px wide, and made it !important. It doesn't appear that IE6 is handling that border very well.
Another note on the fix for the button positioning, you only needed to reset the margin on the left side; doing the same thing to the top margin appears to have moved the buttons up out of alignment.
On to the reviews section. I would definitely do something to distinguish the link to the review from the date. Looking at your css there, I see you set the color to #005555, that doesn't stand out very much on my monitor, I'd bump it up to #007777. I'd probably also bold the anchor and/or underline it in all modes (I'm kinda leaning toward both, but it doesn't need to be, and it's your page). the "(new!)" tag would be nice as long as you keep track of it and remove the tag when it's no longer new.

Oh dear Allenon!
I think you've linked to the wrong page, Mate. You'd better fix it quick.
Anyone can post any rot in your name, as it stands. At least that what I think is happening. Could be mistaken.

Laurie.

This is the same site, just on a different host. I had to post a new topic because even though I said I changed URLs people would just click the old one and say they got a 404.
Okay, So I think I fixed the IE6 errors now and I reformatted the data layout in the reviews section. The Dark style of my site is really messed up, but I'm going to wait until I get all the errors taken care of in my main style than redo the Dark style.

Re: Please Review - http://sora.programming-designs.com/
I think you may have misunderstood the problem with IE6s margin problem. It doesn't affect all margins, it only happens on floated objects (more info here: http://www.positioniseverything.net/exp … argin.html )
The only * html hack you need is the one for #sidebar, and then just the margin-left part. The problem now is that #contentmain doesn't have a large enough margin and some of the content boxes (those that start underneath your left side menu) are overlapping your left side bar.

Re: Please Review - http://sora.programming-designs.com/
Alright, so I think I fixed that. Also, can you tell me how I can get IE6? I have IE7 right now and would like to keep it though. Also, are there any other IE6 errors?

Re: Please Review - http://sora.programming-designs.com/
It works now
I couldn't find any other problems in IE6 on your other pages.
If you want to go back to IE6, you can reinstall Window and your programs; and specifically prevent the updater from installing IE7. Another way (which I haven't tried) is an installer I found here: http://tredosoft.com/Multiple_IE .

Re: Please Review - http://sora.programming-designs.com/
Thank you for all your help. I finally have my site where I want it. I also now have IE6,5,4,and 3, along with opera, so I can make sure my site displays correctly on all browsers in the future.
I have fixed dark theme, which you can get to at sora.programming-designs.com/?style=dark
So if you would like to review it feel free to, but please keep in mind this style is meant to be more edgy and busy to apple to a younger audience.

Re: Please Review - http://sora.programming-designs.com/
Hi Sora
I just took a look at your sits. The first one looks fine easy to read. The second one which is dark I looked at for about three seconds it hurts your eyes. I would stay with the first site.
you really don't have a sub domain sorry to say. You don't even have a domain name. Your sites are part of company called programming designs more like an affiliate program. if you type in soracrossdevelopment.com you get sight not found which means your site belongs to programming designs. if this is just a fun site for you. Then stick with programming designs. But if you're trying to start a business and make money off this site. I would suggest you get your own Web host. There a lot of those out there. But there's only one or two that I would recommend..

While I know the dark theme isn't as good as the default I don't think it is bad enough to hurt someone's eyes. Are you sure you're not exaggerating? Or do you just dislike more busy themes?

I'm sorry to have to correct you, but I do have a sub-domain. the "sora." is a sub-domain of "programming-designs.com," and while it is true that I am part of programming-designs right now I still have a sub-domain, and the site is still mine.
DON wrote:

Yes. I know this, I have not bought a domain for my site yet, this is why I am only using a sub-domain. The site does belong to me, though. I can edit the source, add and delete what I see fit, and download and upload source files to and from my computer. I have complete control over my site, so it is mine.

Yes, I plan on getting a domain for my site soon. Sorry to correct you again, but I think you have domain and web host confused. a domain is how someone gets to your site, like "www.soracross.com" while a web host is a folder on a computer hooked up to the internet that you can put files into to be displayed, and downloaded.

Re: Please Review - http://sora.programming-designs.com/
Sorry about the double post, but I just spent five hours redesigning my website. I changed the code in a lot of areas, redid the layout, and various other things. Please tell me if it's better or worse? Thank you.

I don't suppose you kept a copy of the previous version around did you? It would help to make a comparison if we could look at both versions.
