We have 2 frames. One on the left side which is a menu. The balance of the screen on the right is our contents page.
The menu comes from www.openoursite.com and the contents comes from www.apitherapy4me.com. Two different websites.
We want the www.apitherapy4me.com website to open on the right side with the menu from openoursite on the left.
When we click on a any menu item, the page comes from www.openoursite.com and we want this page to always replace the then current contents page on the right.
What happens is that the original contents page is not removed and a new window is opened instead, with the linked page. This we can not live with.
When we only open www.openoursite.com everything works fine, because we are getting all the linked menu items from the same website.
We think the problem occurs due to the fact that the first page opened in the contents page is from a different website.
We had it working in IE6, but with IE7 it doesn't work.
Anyone with a solution ????
Thanks from Matt @ Launchnet

The www.apitherapy4me.com website is a CMS system done in PhPNuke ... why do you insist on your site being done in frames, when numerous Webmasters have stepped away from frames -- why not just do a 2-column layout and be done with it?

The aprtherphy site is a friend of mine site. We are simply using his site as the test. site, as we needed an independent site to do our testing in conjunction with openoursite.
Openoursite does exactly as we want it to do and we are not changing to 2 columns.
It would be nice if you could understand what we are doing and then maybe you could offer a suggestion on our problem, without trying to change what we are doing.
I have explained the requirements quite well, I think.
If you need more details on the operation, I will be happy to answer any of your requests on operation of coding.

TA
I want to apologise for coming on a little strong. I have had so many people, from other forums, tell me to change my program to this and this and this and this and not use frames, without offering a suggestion other than change your programing methods. I have to say that its getting a little tiring. What I'm looking for is a solution using frames and I'm beginning to think it can only come from Microsoft. They are working on it in Level 3 Support as well as IE7 development. Maybe there isn't an answer until Microsoft repairs IE7. I simply don't know, but I have been trying the various forums to see if someone can help.
For the little I know about programming, I have found that my site OpenOurSite.com does exactly what I want it to do.
Now, I need a solution to Microsofts IE7 problem. My test site apitherapy4me.com works great in IE6, but not in 7.
Microsoft is well aware of this, as there are also others with frames problems using 7.
Please bear with my frustration.
Many Thanks
Matt @ Launchnet
No apology necessary Matt, as I often have a hard time describing help to people - you aren't the only one who's having problems with IE7 displaying properly ... I agree; its frustrating when you're asking for help on too many forums and you get a variety of answers.
Have you set your site in 2 frames, or just the one? If so many are having problems with frames in IE7, it may take MicroStoopid a very long time to correct it, as they're concentrating more on the major problems with Vista, which is why I suggested an alternative.

My site OpenOurSite.com is built around 2 Frames.
I understand that others are also having frame display problems in IE7.
I guess that I will simply have to wait until MS solves their problems before I can use this application.
I can assure you that I am not going to upgrade to Vista.
Thanks for your understanding.

Is the site fixed now? I don't see the problem.... maybe I misunderstood.

Hi Mr. Stitch . . . No It's Not Working Yet in IE7
1st, you have to be using IE7.
2nd you have to open: www.apitherapy4me.com.
After site opened, click on left menu, such as "Hosted Sites".
The problem occurs here.
The "Hosted Sites" page is supposed to open in the right frame, replacing "PhP Nuke Web Portal System" in the existing right hand frame (page).

Thanks TA
I posted to this forum. Looks like MS has logs of IE7 problems
Code: html
<frameset cols="132,*">
<frame src="http://openoursite.com/mainmenulist.htm" name="menu" scrolling="no" target="showframes">
<frame src="http://apitherapy4me.com/index/" name="showframes">
Have you tried taking out the "target="showframes""?
Thats probably not going to do much tho.
How about this solution - IE7 Frames
