BTW: AJAX != Web 2.0
Web 1.0 - statically linked documents of information
web 2.0 - the internet as an application platform (ajax helps!)
web 3.0 - the semantic web (WTF?)
Will web 2.0 have any affect on the e-commerce market?
Got any examples of websites using 2.0 that enjoy insane conversion rates?
So far, from what I've seen, web 2.0 is pretty much for social media's because - "This site does some really cool shiat, biatch!!!!!!"

Just for fun -
Web 1.0 - static linked documents containing information
web 2.0 - an application platform [most noted are social interaction sites. AJAX used as link bait]
web 3.0 - the semantic web
web 4.0 - semantic social book marking and semantically savvy search engines
web 4.1 - All files on the net have machine readable semantics
web 5.0b - desktop type applications and interaction, fully understood by humans and robots alike
web 5.0 - desktop type applications and interaction, fully understood by humans and robots alike, no software requirements or dependencies
web 6.0 = bots take over the world. all your bases are belong to gbot.

Web 2.0 search applications (e.g eurekster swicki's) do work very well on niche websites - and excellent for organic SEO/SEM practices.
Web 7.0:

Nanotechnology and Neurotechnology have advanced to a stage where every bit of information is directly projected into your brain in 5 or even more senses. You see, smell, touch, tatse and hear the digital world around you, you can switch over between every form of world/creation, build things in a few seconds and create worlds just by having a feeling. There is no border between console and body, your mind is the cliënt of the web, and the web is like an extension of your mind. Every person's brain will be a portal into an "MMO" where you can interact and communicate with eachother, where you can contribute live to eachothers ideas or just create a space around you where you can mentally rest between the heavy sessions of socializing, playing and working. Those three principles will eventually merge into one thing, work/play/social will be one event of interactions between human brains.
Brain extension chips, neural interfaces and brain projecting technologies have already been tested, the first only on mice, but the other ones on humans as well.
EDIT: Sorry didn't see the post by griffinsbridge... lots in common with my vision of the future web. I think that eventually the "real world" will not even matter anymore. It will be infested with nanobots, controlling every bit of matter. "RL" will look the same as any other digital world created on a server (or the server-capability of someones brain).
Is Web 8.0+ basically skynet taking over?
