is it just me or does adsense / analytics slow down a site?
it just seems to me they make the pages hang for longer than they should before the browser renders them.
remote javascript calls suck.
anyone have any thoughts?

Online
css to position ads
ads called last in the source
php flush before the call to the ads
Internet Marketing Books
Promote Yourself on Site Reference!
Yep - it really does slow the site
Especially on low traffic sites - that's probably why you're noticing!
LOL
Takes time to load the ads to cache google-side!

You think 130,000 uniques a month is low? lol tell that to the seven millionth visitor whom I expect to see sometime this month. :taunt: lol
Sis, if that's the case I'd work on reducing load, caching pages, optimising queries etc!! My average load over 5 minutes is <1 and I still think that's too high!
And Northie is bang on again!
I've since dropped adsense from my site and am thinking about pulling text-link-ads too. Both might be payers but I'd rather keep visitors on site and try to get a better conversion rate than get a couple of pence a click or a few dollars a month per link.

i love money too man!
but i'd rather have money from customers in the uk paying me in sterling than get money on adsense in us dollars when the currency conversion sucks as bad as it does right now. we get screwed by the bank on dollars....
i'm convinced our site is doing better for not having adsesnse.
the old theory for having it on was that people will leave our site so we may as well get paid for their outclicks.
northie said something about adsense and conversion rates, when the slowdown came i took them off and did some testing.
initially we had an increase in sales, actually making more in extra sales than we did with adsense. only a few quid but still it was up. conversion rate is up.
no adsense makes our site faster and makes us more money by not having visitors leave or being distracted by the outlinks.

Mobtex, I was increasing the numbers of queries with visitor trackers, adsense codes,...I will try to reduce the number of them. However, the problem is not in the number of queries. The problem is my free server is too loaded. There is a substation work in the data server, I'm waiting its new paid service and collection of my adsense money so that I can pay its cost
.I'm testing bandwisth usage and some other things but todays it got so overloaded that it is very slow in puant times(especially between 21:00-23 and Sundays).Sometimes it is creating a page with 25 queries in 30 seconds. The only problem is not the creation speed of pages, also there is a problem with bandwidth of the server.Pages are downloaded in one minute. Also I can't create G sitemap because of high load.
Excuse me, subject was adsense slows sites but I changed it to my stupid server.
