Sorry about the headline - I wanted to get some attention.
The e-mail newsletter content is excellent - however, for the last several issues the links in the main (meat) part of the beginning of each edition are not live. They are in large, bold type - but they are not hyperlinks. This means that I can't read the referenced articles unless I am willing to do some searching via the main site (which I am not willing to do).
Is this going to be fixed?
My boss sent an e-mail to the e-mail address registered with the domain, and nobody ever replied to it.
Hey Earl,
i've tested the NL through many diferent email rpoviders and it has always worked for me
could you please tell me:
1) which email service you are using (yahoo, outlook, etc)?
2) what links do not work specifically (ie what you are trying to click on)
Does anyone esle face this problem?
PS. sorry bout not replying- the email may have been thrown out by accident as tha address is getting spammed like crazy
Nic
I'm using Eudora.
This is what the most recent one looks like:

Could your AdSense Revenues be hijacked?
I got paranoid last night and wondered if it was possible for someone to hijack my site's AdSense revenue, I came to the conclusion it could be done, easily enough and found a couple of ways to prevent it happening. I want to share these ways incase anyone else is paranoid too!
What are WebRings good for?
I've seen that WebRing sites advocate that you are likely to get better rankings on major search engines for your website if you join a WebRing. Is this a marketing lie, or is there some truth to that? If it's lies, are WebRings good for anything?
Do i want to Stumble Upon?
I was checking referrers for my site in site logs - suddenly I have a new darling StumbleUpon.com. Not featuring in my other sites stats (nothing so unique on them) but for this site it rivals Yahoo and MSN as a traffic source. If you have a site that you think people might think unique, it could be worth checking your logs. Have others being experiencing this?
SEO Value of .edu Backlink
What value might a .edu.au relevent IBL have from a SEO point of view? Is it true that, no matter where the link is from, it's always good to get something from a local affiliation?
Adsense Terms
After some reading of the new Google Adsense TOS they keep suggesting not to place adsense near pictures. Will this get me banned? Has anyone had any problems with this?
Dollars Paid
I'm dinking around at SEOmoz, trying to come up with some money terms, and had a question..... At one point, you have to key in the dollars that are bid on for the search term, at Overture. How does that dollar amount relate to the bid dollars at google? Higher? Lower?
Why wont Google show all my inbound links?
When I search for my band digitalTRAFFIC on google.com there are some 12 000 links or references to this term - but i can only see 100 odd pages which is okay as Google has a cutoff of 1000. But what can i use to check ALL my backlinks?

Nothing in that section is clickable. Everything above and below is.
The previous format always worked perfectly. Whatever you did when you made the changes has made the links disappear.
I redirected to a Hotmail account to check the html - but it is taking forever to arrive (nothing unusual with Hotmail). I am guessing that there is a validation error in the html somewhere. When looking at the last 'clickable' link, it is preceded by a ' . . . which tells me that the link is not formatted correctly and would affect everything else. For example:
'list.site-reference.com/lt/t_go.php?i is what actually shows up under my cursor (which just gives a directory listing if I copy and paste everything after the ' into my browser).
We actually DO read the newsletters - when we can, but the last few have been dumped in the Trash.

Hey Earl,
I've fixed as many issues as could be done...however i'm not sure where causing this issue
could you tell me if this happens to the next one...would really like to help out
thanks
Comes thru perfectly on Yahoo email.
Looks like he has a system that is just converting the email to plain text. Why don't we include a fully written URL so they know where to go if the headline is not clickable.

Interestingly, I redirected the last newsletter to a Hotmail address using three different e-mail sending addresses yesterday, and none of them got through. I wonder if Hotmail is blocking the newsletters for some reason? They didn't show up in my Junk folder. This is worth following up on.

As i said, mine works perfecly in hotmail, thats the address it gets sent to in the first place. Perhaps its the mailbox you are sending from that is being blocked?

Nope - I can send my Hotmail e-mails from the addresses used for the redirects, and they all get through. I check that Hotmail account at least once daily. Some of my business e-mail is configured to send my main addresses a copy with a cc to Hotmail - and they all get through. However, the redirects of the Site Reference newsletters don't get through.
I redirected 4 copies of the last newsletter, plus the one that came to my main e-mail this morning - and none of them have made it through.
Also, this morning's newsletter still has the same formatting problems.

It's still happening as of this morning's newsletter.
Last edited by EarlW (2007-01-26 08:56:14)I tried Eudora when it first came out and got rid of it within the first 2 weeks because it's such a crappy system from MicroSTOOPID Outlook, who took it over from Qualcomm, and screwed it all up -- can't understand why anyone in their right mind would use it.
Perhaps your email wasn't set-up correctly either as for showing HTML -- you might want to go thru Dan's Mail Format site which has alot of useful info.
That being said, go thru some of these sites to figure out what the problem is -- especially look at the post, "Safe Email Viewing With Eudora" halfway down this page
I have been using Eudora for years - and have never had any problems with it. This is the first newsletter that has showed up with 'unclickable' links.

Then, I'd say something's become hosed up in your settings along the way -- everyone else is receiving the Newsletter just fine with clickable links.
If that were the case, all of the links would be unclickable. Only a few are - in the same part of every newsletter.
That is a strange cat to say the least -- so, why don't you get a Yahoo email account and change your subscription to Yahoo and solve the problem?

Just subscribed with my Hotmail address. However, the problem should still be fixed. Statistically, for every 1 person that complains about a problem, there are 100 others who don't.
that is true Earl...i'll take another look but thus far can't seem to pin down an errors that would cause this
i'll also look at implementing SR's suggestions
thanks for the patience
