I'm dinking around at SEOmoz, trying to come up with some money terms, and had a question.....
At one point, you have to key in the dollars that are bid on for the search term, at Overture.
How does that dollar amount relate to the bid dollars at google? Higher? Lower?
Thanks

Well, I dunno, Stitch.
But there's a doover at AdSense you can use for the Google amounts.
I've been playing with it myself since Northie's post a couple of weeks back.
I found a good term that someone has bid nearly $10 for, and fits with my new site. Don't know how much of the $10 I might get. Trouble is: Google geo-target the adds. If the bloke who bid $10 is in the US, my visitors may not see the add, so I'll be down to search terms that someone has bid 9 cents on. Ah well!
Anyone got any idea how much of the 9 cents I might see?
I'd be keen to hear how you go with it, Stitch.
Regards,
Laurie.

Options
Google API (adwords) - write your own php script (after downloading 650kb worth of someone else's). (API calls charged at 4000/$1)
AdSense Accelerator - uses the API but costs ~$50/month
Both give you an estimated daily number of clicks if the advertiser advertises in adwords. I multiply this by 10 to get daily 'searches', ASA multiplies it by 150, and gives you the number in searches. If your threshold is 1 search per day, my method says there would be 0.1 clicks per day, ASA would say 0.0066 searches per day.
make your own mind up
it will also give you the bid price.
The AdSense proportion of the bid price passed on to the publisher is not made public. Speculation and testing has suggested a ranger between 30% and 50%

Thanks Northie. The speculated figure sounds realistic. I'll go with that!
