So, a while back, a discussion sort of spun out of control, and I decided to do some testing on ranking for some terms.
On my blog, I've put a link to http://forums.site-reference.com with the anchor text Rank Whores.
Still no sign of ranking in google... which isn't a surprise really, and no sign in Yahoo... whom I really can't figure out in the first place anyways.
But in MSN, I got #1 !!!
Will do more testing.....

Lol, very good.
Im not sure SR would like to be 'related' to some of the sites on that list though.
But it does beg a question.
If SR can be number 1 in MSN for Rank Whores, with absolutely no on page optimization for those keywords.
And every other site that appears for those keywords has an abundance of onpage optimization for those keywords.
What is the point of onpage optimization?
Unless of course, SR has secretly been cloaking porn all along!!!
I wouldn't say that those other types of sites are optimized for 'rank whores' so to speak.
However, i'm sure there are other pages optimized for 'whores'.
Another note, too.... I happen to run across an article somewhere (and I should've saved the link) that actually had a long drawn out definition of 'Rank Whores'. Something to do with gaming... article written in 2000.
This tells me that on page optimization has little to do with msn's algo.
Simple anchor text will do the job.
Next we'll work on Yahoo's rankings for the term... see what happens. hahahhaha

Gardening Equipment?
SR wouldnt be involved in the review for "Gagging Whores" would they? Naughty Nic
I thought msn would put up more of a fight? Oh well, cant wait for google to pick up on SR again and use rank whores for SR's #1 spot
he he he
My up and coming... soon to be real website... www.thewebguy.co.za (one day i will finish it
)UPDATE:
Still no where with the mighty G,
But....
#25 in Yahoo and Altavista
#9 in All The Web
and still #1 on MSN
I should write a small article on my blog about 'rank whores' and see if I can get it to boost a little better.
I have been thinking 'bout me being a 'link whore"...which I have been for the last 3 days...took today off...hoping to 'spread the love'. Praying this ain't addictive.
Just shoot me.........

SR fell out of favour with google a while back - you won't find any of SRs pages in Gs Index.
telling google that this site is a rank whore won't help - but it might now.....
Before the experiment the topic-reputation match was poor, SR didn't have anything to do with whores. Now this page does have whores mentioned a bit.
That's a really simplistic approach, but you get the idea!

Oh I dunno northie, just found 1,390 in G.
Mind you, only 2 of them weren't Supps
Wish the powers that be would come clean as to how a search engine optimisation and webmasters article website and forums suddenly finds itself out of the google index and rankings.
Are the articles already published all over the web? Could trip a filter somewhere....

?
Well, there is always talk of duplicate content causing problems.
If you have enough dupe content, would the domain get struck down in G?
I'm assuming that the people that write the articles, at least some of them, have probably submitted the same article to other places... and those other places are getting indexed before this one.
How about the meta data? I thought I read somewhere that someone lost most of there forum pages to the supps because the same meta data was arbitrarily posted on every page, by the php software.
meh... not that I would know I guess, but those are just some ideas.
