Just found this article about how Ask.com is better, in many ways, than G, from the "Wall Street Journal" (March 30, 2006):

Food for thought?
I just tried to "submit" my web site at Ask, but seems they only accept paid advertising.

I rank really well in Ask.com and I've never submitted my site
as for their results being better than google's - well maybe. purely annecdotal evidence at best, but if I search for a few entertainment related subjects on google and ask.com, I do get a bit better and more relevent results from ask, but I also notice that I get a few links that rank well that I know for a fact the page has been gone for a few months now.

I took a peek at my site there... rank somewhere in the netherlands I think.
Found the site and hovered over those binoculars. It has an old snapshot... about 6 months old or older.
I also noticed that not all sites seemed to have a snapshot. Perhaps they only do this for the home page.
Meh, not willing to switch, but they do have some good tools going for them. I suppose they could stick with it, and eventually get some decent market share.
first time looking and one of my major sites is #1 and #2 under our most sought after keywords...woo hoo
now if only anyone used ask maybe we'd get some traffic from them...

for what it's worth, i rank 5th and 6th on Google for my 2 major keywords. and 3rd and 1st on Ask. surprised the heck out of me thad i had a #1!!!
but, here's stats from yesterday: google 462, google.ca 77, google translation site 55, ask 46. ask is certainly worth a look, but it will be a struggle for them to beat out others. some fun commercials they have though.

We get a reasonable amount of traffic for our travel and property sites from ask.com, around five to seven per cent of what Google supplies.

I get about 5% of my total traffic from Ask.com. Never submitted my site to Ask. Obviously, they managed to find me through other links.

I usually get 2 or 3 referrals from Ask per month. 1 of my sites is #1 in my selected keyword and my other site is #10. Just like most of us here, I did not submit my site to Ask too.
