I've used the Google API many times, but.....
I've found that there's a Google AdWords API and an Overture API
Does anyone have any experience of these?
And, does anyone have a working link to the overture API? (all current references are broken, may have to sign in to get to it, but I don't have an account)

Hi,
I have used the adwords API.
I used it to try to make some cash from the Amazon Associates system, just about the time that adwords started charging more if it suspected an affiliate site! (http://getitbought.com)
I wrote my own software to make calls to the Adwords API, to include the current selling price in the Adwords Ad, and adjust it as the Amazon price moved.
The API works, though like adwords it is terse and there are lots of rules about ad text, that you deal with fine when a human is logged into adwords, but are a real pain to code round. Adwords API call that fail because you broke a rule still cost quota
If you are writing your own code, to promote your own site adwords api is still free, if not there is a charge for API quota.

Cheers mate,
In the two months since posting I've now written my own software and will soon be incorporating it into a publicly available tool online
