Hey... I published an article recently (on my own site for one) and thought it may be some interest.... to those in the web development game and others really...
A rant on ethics in my industry or any other...
Snippet
Set out what you believe into your policies and stay strong. If it’s Human Resource Development or Customer Relations Management, have an ideal to ‘try’ and live up to. Have restrictions in place that ensure a quality environment within the company and with customers and your Brand will build itself.
In the end no matter what, the blame runs uphill. The owners and managers of a business must ultimately take the responsibility for shortcomings. Have a strong code of ethics within your policies, instill pride in one’s workmanship and treat customers with the respect they deserve and you’ll likely be responsible for a success not failure.
I try to always remember there is always another human being at the other end of ‘the wire’. I figure it is the least I can do, we’re related by more than technology.
Have a read if u wish

A few weeks ago, our new business took in it's first paying customer.
During our little celebration I mentioned that I'd love to find a few people like myself and build up my own business (rather than the partnership I'm in at the moment). the response i got was 'you'll never find anyone like you, but if you can it'll be perfect'
A few weeks ago thegypsy mentioned that he'd find it interesting to work with myself and mobtex.
having read this post, and related article; having read the stuff mobtex writes I know that there are those out there who know hoe to do things properly, who aren't bound by the confines of normality others put on us, who care passionately about their success and the success of those they help.
It goes to show me that my dream is a possibility. As Angel Eyes so rightly says, a dream is reality when given a time frame - and my motto of 'Nothing's Impossible, just let me think about it' shows that things can be done

IT may sound cheesy, but life is really is WHAT you make of it...
I don't believe in boundaries , so I have none
I believe in myself, so there is no mountain to high
I shall soon be celebrating 20 years of self employment... people ask 'How do you do it' 'What are the secrets' and really..I don't know. I have been at it so long it is second nature, I get up.. and go about my life.... without a second thought about failure (cause I have failed enough times)
In the end, it's not about how many times U fall down, it is about how many times U get back up again. It is a war of attrition some times.. many, many internet development companies have come and gone over the last 9 years... we're simply one of the ones left standing..
My tidbit for the day;
The past is history
The future a mystery
Today is a Gift
..that's why it is called the 'Present'

I have always worked with small businesses (even as a business consultant B4 the web).. so I usually work with the owner... not a board of directors as with larger firms...
So it is that personal part of it, that has always been at the core of my company philosophy.
