At the conference right now there is a lot of talk about the future of SE and how they could improve
Curious to see what you guys would do if you could make your own SE? What features would you like to see??
Would you like it to perosnalize your searches? (G kinda does this noe- keeps track of what you looked at before)
Would you like it to delete your search history? (actually delete it)
Would you like to be able to add your own notes next to the results?

I might like a few things changed in G:
1. List results for only relevant TLDs and do away with the Cashed and Similar pages links (a More from this url link like the one in Y is more useful)
2. Capture user input on the websites “theme” and eventually display it next to the result.

The biggest thing is to let me make the decisions.
I type a query, the SE gives the best possible results using semantics only.
The SE should only return geo-targeted results if I enter a location, yet should check against brand names (and such like) that may contain a location as part of its name.
No personalisation what so ever
No search history
No info about me what so ever
I hate computers trying to second guess me - they always get it wrong and end up only wasting my time

I would discount the trash sites greatly
Youtube ranks on the first page for nearly everything you can think of now. Thats fine if one of my search terms is "movie" or "video" - otherwise its trash.
Same thing for wikipedia, I'm sick of seeing a wikipedia stub article rank #1 or #2 for something I'm searching for. If google really does penalize sites, if there is any justice in the world and if they care about their results at all they should penalize the crap out of wikipedia - most of its trash too.
