Ok... some one get me a body bag and a casket ... it seems SEO is Dead
To get anywhere in today's web all you need is;
1. You must be blogging on a high-tech platform (At least Wordpress out of the box – nothing does better in the engines.)
2. Create multiple tagged RSS feeds based on your top keywords and use autodiscovery in your template to shove content in the face of spiders.
3. Tag, Tag, Tag! And Ping! Ping! Ping!
4. Supplement your original content with relevant syndicated content.
5. Post every single day, even more than once a day, on real topics of interest to your market.
Oh, and be sure to post at lest ONE page per day in your Blog and the world is you oyster !!!!!
If you have a static site without a blog...give up.. you are out to lunch and have missed the Bus....
Certainly I wouldn't worry about Back Links either....
... I think I have to go throw up somewhere now... cya

Interesting, yet boring article.
I smell link bait. (he's thanking you right now gypsy.. hahah)
From what I've seen so far on the web, I don't foresee this as an end-all solution. Maybe it worked for them, but not everyone is running in the same market either. My gut tells me they happen to be riding the latest wave by google, and just happen to land on something that their site needed on an algorithmic scale.... total luck.
However, I have in fact contemplated the thought of starting a blog on a separate IP for our site, based on our overall industry market, our own up-coming company products, and the learning curve that i'm personally faced with in this particular arena.
Certainly, I don't believe this to be a solution, rather than 'something extra'. A channel, if you will, to easily communicate with our visitors, and gain valuable ROI information, as well as new product idea's. (in my particular market, it just so happens that I don't have limits on product expansion)

Search Engines evolve :: Search Engine Optimisation evolves
simple.
Create multiple tagged RSS feeds based on your top keywords and use autodiscovery in your template to shove content in the face of spiders.
Ah, keywords - how do we get keywords, through research, let's call it keyword research - hey, I used to do something called keyword research when I did SEO. Wait, I still am doing SEO
What this is saying is that old-school onsite SEO needs to be expanded on - by adding or refreshing your content.
And the methods for off-site SEO are now involving daily publishing on a blog, which automatically pings some sites.....sounds like I had better buy some automating software to do it all for me. No, wait, it's already all automatic..................................just a new way of promoting your site.
No match for static back links on authority sites..........

Well, thank you all very much… I thought I was out of a job there for a second and now one told neither me nor my clients about it…..
I’d like to see him pull a top 10 for say… ‘Viagra’ or some other uber-competitive term with a brand new site…
Certainly valid techniques, but more PART of SEO than a replacement for it.

I wrecked your thread because you sounded like you needed some cheering up and it was boring.

I'll stick to dogs, as I'm allergic to cats and can't stand the flying hair all over the place -- if I want a plateful of hair on the kitchen table, I'll shave my head ... now; about that SEO body bag ... have shovel, will travel ...

First, just had to add...thanks for confirmation on what I was thinking, while reading that article -- it came to what Angel Eye thought about how this thread changed -- a huge WTF!!!
Also, two other articles confused me even more! Can't remember the titles or authors, but one was telling how there was nothing new in SEO, while the other, in the same e-newsletter, was telling how we needed to keep up with what's new for promoting sites. Solved my confusion after a quick round of enny meany miney Moe.
Naah, j/k.
Actually, I remembered waaaaay back, when I first joined Site Reference and learned that recips (new word I had to research today, to understand another post on this forum LOL) was the be all/end all of SEO. Now it's BLs. Granted, it's nothing terribly new to learn, BUT as the original article that started this thread implied, "just" keep up with the latest SEO and then we too can pretend SEO is dead. LOL
Then again, exactly how many specialists need to be hired to do everything Jack Humphrey says we needed to do?! I've been putting in two hours a day on my one blog, just to catch up on it., (I've only been trying to maintain 2 posts per week) and I don't even have a job. How do folks, who make their living via the Web, actually do all that Jack suggest plus do the work required to keep their business going? Isn't that down right impossible, unless you have a very, easy going sugar daddy or a fortune saved up to take that 3-7 years it usually takes to get a business off the ground and profitable?
That being said, a can't resist...

Ummm, my brother's boa liked kittens too, but, fortunately, a couple of my cousins saved the rest of that litter. Snakes and small baby animals don't socialize well.
If you're into safe, nonthreatening, well trained, cost-effective, sweet animals, ummm, try teddy bears.

I work for a game reserve? we got some big pussy cats down here (Dont worry northie, after a couple of beers in SA we will call em anything... just not to there faces... cause they are big and have claws and teeth that are bigger than.. well... normal pussy.. cats)
Our neighbours have the most peculiar pets.... but i wont get into that...
So am i correct in assuming SEO is not dead? cause i just started and if it is... it would really, really, seriously suck. lots
