Our newsletters have an open rate of 36-41% five days from the send-date. Is this good?
Should I allow more time (one week? more?) to get a better picture of how many subscribers are opening the newsletter?
Of those that open the newsletter, the click-through rate (CTR) to our site varies, probably depending on that newsletter's content. What is considered a desirable CTR? And when should I measure this (see above)?
Thanks for any input.

A lot will depend on the size of your list and the frequency of the mailings. How often do you mail out the newsletter?

Every two weeks, sometimes three weeks if there's a holiday in there.

Your conversion rate is very very good. I'd be happy with what you have.
One other factor is definitely how many subscribers you have.

I'm glad I read this! I'll never understand why some people sign up for a newsletter they don't want. Mine has been higher than 100% (I guess the newsletter had been mailed to friends, etc) and as low as 40%. Lately it averages half, and I'm glad to hear that's not bad.

I would love to hear people's thoughts on that as well??

I don't know how accurate the information is but it fell inline with the responces we have gotten with our newsletter.
We maintain a list of roughly 4000 and got back a 25% open rate. I'd like more but we are rather pleased as it has led to more bussiness opportunities.
